Or better still, we just accept that mistakes are made - by referees, players and biased supporters.

So you condone cheating?

I have no problem dealing with mistakes. I support Halifax Town so I see thousands a season, from players and referees. Lots of my mates say my ongoing support is the biggest mistake of all

A few weeks ago I saw the worst sending off decision I’ve ever witnessed - ref signalled a throw in and in doing so hit a player in the throat, who reacted by bringing his hands up, clipping the refs arm, and the ref sent him off - and whilst we were angry to lose a player we accepted that in fifth division football you get fifth division decisions

But I do have an issue with out and out cheating, and Bamford last night is an example. Not exaggerating contact. Not manufacturing contact by moving into the defender. They’re grey areas. Literally throwing himself to the ground with zero contact is not acceptable and he deserves to be banned for it

The PL plastics have no idea they are born! I see them moaning about refs and think: come and see the clowns we get in NLN! ( and they are worse further down but I am more inclined to accept that as they are local/regional leagues)

The strange thing is that a good ref stands out a mile at this level. I mean REALLY stands out. There are some good ones, drowning in a sea of dross. For some the laws of the game seem a stranger., not in that they get things wrong but that they have never even seen a copy of the laws!

Alan Shearer would implode with rage if he saw some of the decisions we see. ( he nearly did on Saturday on MOTD about VAR)

I agree, but it just seems to happen more often. Could be, because every game has cameras recording everything and things can be poured over at leisure.
Some players certainly have a reputed for 'diving' but like this Leeds bloke can still get away with it.

I was a Referee myself from 1974 to 1998 so do have some idea of the 'dark arts'.

Is that the same Dover Athletic who deliberately engineered a postponement away at in-form Barrow on Saturday October 12th 2019 with a backdrop of Dover International call-ups and the National League not agreeing with postponed games on grounds of International call-ups? Thus resulting in a Tuesday night game at greater distance from Dover than even Truro is?

Nope. That game was postponed because the train the squad was on from Euston was affected by a railway suicide and they could not make it to Barrow in time.

Out of interest; are we saying this isn't dangerous then?

That loss of life is tragic for the family/relatives of the victim and also train staff who witnessed/dealt with the incident, but why would the soccer franchise be leaving such fine margins for an away game?

On October 9th 1961, cash-strapped Gillingham managed to make it to Barrow despite suffering a medley of transport calamities. Link below. They managed this with 1961 infrastructure.

It is Football Club, not franchise.

The day the quoted incident happened there were, I think, three other games called off because of the same fatality. if it is the day i am thinking about I don't think I got to my game because of this situation. Darlo won 2 -1 v Boston irc.

Why did they leave it so late? Because travel is expensive for clubs. If you haven't got a pot to piddle in you aren't travelling up the night before and staying in hotels or flying. Most teams are going on the coach or driving in cars. I am surprised they went by train actually.

There is no conspiracy here.

What were the "fine margins"?
IRC - they and several other clubs travelled north on the morning of the game. I think it was a 9am train off Euston ( the train i was going to use north) There was chatter this was silly. My view was you cut your cloth accordingly.

I've seen the Dover team on Saturday morning trains from London to the north on more than one occasion. The simple fact is that on the East and West coast main lines they can get a long way very quickly so it's better than going by road.

I have seen them and other teams on the trains on my way to matches. They all tend to be young fit lads traveling in matching sports wear so you cant miss them!

A lot of comments on the BBC website asking the question as to whether PSG really are a top side, or are they being built up by the media on their past record?
What past record? They have dominated at home in recent years bar one but when it has come to the Champions League, which all connected with the club are obsessed with, apart from reaching one final ( which they lost to Bayern) it has been a disaster. All the money spent is on the hope of winning it.

They were on the 0930 from Euston and then coach from Lancaster. The fatality was between Watford and MK. Sutton and Dagenham also had their games in the NW postponed.

Now we're sliding back down the pyramid, you won't see Dover players travelling up country by train anymore. :(

On previous occasions the team has flown to games. Barrow, Gateshead and Truro, etc from Biggin Hill.

Our horrible chairman hasn't got the money any more.

The reason teams like Dover use trains for away games like Barrow is to avoid the cost of overnight stays. The total entourage will be about 30 people, so it gets expensive quickly

All our games are by coach. We had funds for 1 overnight stop this season and I think we used that early on. Travel costs are massive.

But it's about time as well. It would be a struggle to do Barrow by coach in a day, and they'd almost certainly need two drivers which would up the costs. I would imagine most Darlo aways are no more than around 3 hours by road?

VAR again. I think Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is correct here. Keep VAR for goal line decisions but ditch the rest. Of course that wouldn’t stop after match multi-angle television replays providing food for Lineker, Shearer & Co…

The pundits found plenty to discuss before VAR, so I'm sure they'd cope!

Though it is worth noting that even the Hawkeye goal-line technology isn't foolproof. Last season Huddersfield had a perfectly good goal ruled out (in the home game against Blackpool) because the referee hadn't tested that the goal line technology was working correctly prior to the game.

Offsides too? I’m fairly sure it was weekly where MOTD would be commenting on a game that had the result altered following an incorrect offside decision before VAR.

F A Trpphy...3rd qualifying round

Workington AFC 1 ... Hyde United 3

Hyde took the lead mid-way in the first half, but Workington equalised on the stroke of half-time. Hyde then added two unanswered goals in the second half and will now enter the first round proper.

I note that Workington lost by the same score when they played Darlington this season in an FA Cup qualifying round.

Manchester United won today’s game against Brentford with 2 very late goals from Scott McTominay after another howler from Andre Onana.

Cheltenham Town have finally scored a goal this season with a goal from Rob Street in a 1-1 draw against Derby County.

Apologies if this is a bit long, but why does football have to be so complicated. After Stoke’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester.

Stoke City boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio Stoke:

"Our game plan was to come here, frustrate and try keep Leicester at arms length really.

"We wanted to get to the late embers of the game and see if we could have a little bit of a go.

"The first goal changed the dynamic of the game. We then kept it going until the 60th minute, then when we decided to have a go.

"We discussed that, it was always going to be the game plan.

"You can see why teams come here and don't do that, because they have very quick players, they are good, they are technical, they move the ball. You have to go one-for-one across the whole pitch and at that stage we became a little stretched and they managed to get a goal.

"We gave it everything we have got."

What an utter load of sh*te…..!!!

We didn't go to today's game. 10 out of 11 games we won is pretty impressive. No doubt we'll be back up there way before this season ends.

The audio they have now released shows how utterly chaotic that communication is and leaves me not at all surprised that mistakes have been made.

Indeed, I experience better and clearer communication ordering a coffee at Costa (other coffee shops are available...)

Is Jurgen Klopp for real? He wants the Spurs match replayed.

I agree with Herr Klopp, as long of course as other historical wrongs are righted too. For example, could Liverpool please give up their next place in European competition to Oxford United, who having won the League Cup in 1986 were denied what was almost certainly our only ever such opportunity thanks to the ban on English clubs in Europe following the Heysel tragedy.

Oh yes. At Bradford we could play the extra time of the 2017 league 1 play off final as Millwall’s late late goal was offside. Maybe we’d go on to win it and be allowed to immediately become an established mid table championship side instead of the dross we experience now thanks to the knock on effect of that defeat (all because Edin Rahic ‘knows football’).

Given the lamentable attempts by Starbucks to write even simple names on cups, I won't be seeing coffee outlets as paragons of clear communication.

I’ve just attended my first Serie D match.

1909 Locri 0 Ragusa 2

A fiery and tight affair until the end where a bit of quality shone through for Ragusa to win the match, and they were probably slightly the better team in fairness. I’d guess around a thousand in attendance and the matchday experience exceeded my low expectations.
