The ban includes

It's a shame cos he's a frighteningly good player. Hope this doesn't ruin his career, would be a shame for the whole game imo.
English cricket has, fairly recently, had two high-profile players, Marcus Trescothick and Jonathan Trott, both step down from international matches because of psychological issues, and the game is much the poorer for it.Why? Surely the 'game' would be better off without its 'stars', very much in the public eye, being deeply flawed psychologically. Football has a violent enough image without that.

Their flaws are of a different kind to Suarez, but many players, musicians, artists, actors have 'demons' that drive them.
The point you made was thatDo they bite people in a vastly public arena? No need for this player to step down, just to wear a muzzle.
Biting people is not the only manifestation of that, although Vinnie Jones bit a reporter's nose and Mike Tyson bit an opponent's ear.the 'game' would be better off without its 'stars', very much in the public eye, being deeply flawed psychologically.
Mike Tyson bit an opponent's ear.
Just heard on BBC1 that Uruguay's FA has appealed the decision. Personally I think they're stalling for time so he can play
If that was your point, then maybe you should have said that. After all, I've only quoted and replied to what you actually posted.EM2 - I think you are deliberately ignoring my point. Violence on the football field is unacceptable as these overpaid primadonnas are role models and are the showcase of 'the game'. Violence in form of biting is particularly unpleasant as it is deeply un-natural in adults.

But what about, for example, eye-gouging in rugby? I'd say that's a lot more unnatural.

Highlights from the above include:
Seven week ban for eleven punches to the head.
No punishment for grabbing the testicles.
Six week ban for a stamp on the face.
No punishment for a spear tackle, leading to a dislocated shoulder.
Eight game ban for gouging.
And, interestingly, a number of those players felt they had done nothing wrong either.

Capello and Hodgson the respective Managers of Russia and England being two of the highest paid incumbents presiding over teams at Brazil 2014 have both produced teams who's campaigns have ended in abject failure.
Should both these multi-millionaires be fired..?
888.com have announced that they have terminated their contract with Suarez
A case of "the biter bit"...![]()
I don't think the positives of a home Academy system matter a jot, clubs are completely taken over by the thrill of having players with exotic sounding foreign names, sorry about that Mr Sidorczuk, but they would rather sign a 32 year old 2nd rate Italian, for example, than put any effort into risking home grown talent, they seem to thrive on having a lad right the way through to his early 20s, never giving him the remotest of chances and then letting him go on a free to another, lower division, club with the excuse that "he hasn't proved himself"
A betting / Casino company taking the moral high ground I see
I would say...."More like a company who see no benefit whatsoever in being connected to a character whose personal frailties do nothing but cause disgust in their customers".
I must be a cynic then. I just see a company that can get a bit of cheap publicity![]()
