Is standing even permitted in the championship these days? I thought that conly league 1 and below was permitted standing; championship and premier league having to be all-seater?

Has there ever been any discussions on football clubs only being allowed to play in either the Premiership and the Championship if they have a set minimum number of all-seated stadiums ?
Is there any similar in the Scottish leagues ?

didn't Fulham play at QPR for a few seasons as Craven Cottage wasn't deemed a high enough standard?
The SPL rules stated a minimum 6,000 seats, no standing permitted. However, I'm not sure if this has changed under the SPFL rules. Inverness Caley Thistle played half a season at Aberdeen while two new stands were Built at the Caledonian Stadium.
Part 1 of the regulations here cover stadiums. Same rules apply from Championship to League 2. Only exception is no standing allowed in the Championship.

Yes it is, and no it isn't. Once a club gets promoted to the Championship, they have 3 seasons "grace" to convert terracing to seating. After those 3 seasons, if the terraces have not been converted, they have to be closed on matchdays.
Scunthorpe United are in that position now, as they have spent 3 seasons in the Championship recently. IIRC, the club does have planning permission to convert the Doncaster Road end, but not much has been said since we have spent the last 2 seasons at the bottom on League 1. Former chairman Steve Wharton was also looking into the possibility of having a new ground built on the other side of the M181 as well, but there has been no news about that for 18 months or so either.

I wonder if those 3 seasons (2 actually as the period ends at the start of the third season) are reset when a club is relegated then re-promoted.

I'm not sure about that to be honest, although if it did reset, I wouldn't expect it to be for a while (10 years plus at a minimum).

That sounds about right. Thinking back I remember being told I had to go all-seater by the end of the season on football manager once, when I took over Cardiff around 2004. Not that football manager always equals real life, but it certainly sounds similar.

An update to this story.
The Nigerian FA have acted very quickly to come to their decision on this matter, possibly with an FIFA threat about Nigeria's status in world competitions.
All the officials and players of all the four clubs have been banned for life.
All the four clubs concerned have been banned from the game for a period of ten years.
Which leads one to suppose they were not in the top rank. Compare and contrast what happened to Juventus.
The league was their equivalent of the Conference I gather.

Watching FH Hafnarfjordur vs Ekranas at work at the moment. FH need to hold on to at least a draw to qualify for the next stage, and should do against 10 men, however they look a little bit nervy approaching the last 10 minutes. Some of these Champions League qualifiers have been crackers. Should be a really good competition this year.

Not much is running smoothly for Coventry City at the present time as the creditors' meeting that was scheduled by their joint administrators to try to bring the club out of administration has now been cancelled and a new date of Tuesday, 31st July has been rescheduled for this meeting, as the Creditors Voluntary Agreement document has still to be fully completed.

As the pre-season friendlies rumble on, my Luton-supporting daughter who lives in Birmingham and favours AV of the local teams has pointed out the recent result Luton 2 - Aston Villa 0. She wonders if this season is going to be one of mixed happiness for her.

There is no other choice apart from the sliver of The Hawthorns that falls in Birmingham
Can't really say much from a pre-season friendly but I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Some points that I've thought of:
- The name "Scottish Professional Football League" is a misnomer, as not all 42 clubs are fully professional.
- The name's clearly been chosen for the initials SPFL, representing the merger between the SPL and SFL.
- I'm not sure what the point of "Championship" is. In the English football system it's because it's the highest division of the Football League, so its winners are indeed the champions of the FL. Same goes for the Championship in English rugby. But with the SPL-SFL merger the winners of the Championship will only be divisional champions, the same as the winners of SL1 and SL2, so the name is a bit useless.
- Considering that it was making my head hurt having to remember not to call Airdrieonians Airdrie United any more, this is far too much change for me.

Going to QPR would actually have been a step up considering the state of Scottish football being at an all time low.

I think going to QPR will be a step backwards in his career, seeing as he has proved himself at Championship level (IMO). It's been mentioned a few times here and elsewhere that he deserves a call up to the England squad. Moving to a championship club will not help his cause.

Well I don't think its got any better or worse in the last few years but it is awful, Rangers not been in the SPL has meant Neil Lennon could rest most of the team prior to any champions league game and still win the league at a canter, this helped them and they did really well in the CL but a true reflection of scot football could be seen tonight in the europa result between Hibs and the mighty Malmo
