Aldershot Town officially entered into administration on Thursday, 2nd May when it was formally stated that there was no money to pay all salaries for the month of April or any creditors bills falling due for payment, which was after the closing date of the current season. How will that affect any points deduction that may be imposed, should the joint administrators be able to save the club

An update to this.

The administrators of Aldershot Town are hopeful that they will overcome certain legal matters outstanding in order that they can announce the completion of a deal with the bidding consortium next Monday, which they hope will be acceptable to the respective football authorities.

It is all well and good for David Moyes to be philosophical about their 1-0 defeat by Singha All-Stars in the first of their tour games, but many of the thousands of local supporters of who had paid to watch the match did so in the expectation of seeing some of their better-known players. Ben Amos was in goal...where is he in the Manchester United "goalkeeping pecking order" ? He was very much to blame in being beaten on his near post by the shot that was the winning goal.At least Wilfrid Zaha was given a run-out in the second-half and was unlucky with his shot rebounding back into play from the upright.

I note David Moyes has followed in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson in losing his first game as team manager.

No comments about me transferring my loyalties from both Hyde and from Oldham Athletic....this was just a comment from me on what I saw as a cynical move that totally ignored the hopes of those supporters in Thailand.

^^ Yes it is, I don't think Oldham will sign him as reason why he training with us is because of problem with contract at Swindon, if Latics do sign him then Oldham could have very good season as I can see him, Baxter and MacDonald score around 10 to 15 goals for Oldham and that could take Latics into top 6 finish by end of 2013/14 season.

There are revised fixtures for the Premier League out now. Liverpool vs Stoke gets the season underway at 12:45 on Saturday 17 August, Man Utd have a late afternoon KO, Spurs and Chelsea both play their respective games on the 18th and Newcastle must wait until 8pm on Monday 19th August to get their campaign underway at the blue half of Manchester.

One huge surprise for me is Sunderland vs Newcastle on a Sunday at 4pm. Can't imagine the local Old Bill being too chuffed about that....

I am quite surprised at that one, although I still remember the Wednesday night Derby in 1999, Sunderland won 2-1 in monsoon like conditions. After then it has always been played early on a Saturday, either 12pm or 12:45 and was not televised at the Stadium of Light for 2 seasons, or played at 1pm Sunday...

I can see the Old Bill stepping in and maybe asking for it to be brought forward at least 3 hours

Where certain matches are involved which may lead to public order situations occurring, the matter should form a discussion with the constabulary concerned once the seasons fixtures are prepared, but prior to the publication of the kick-off times....not once the kick-off time has been arbitrarily decided by the football authorities to suit the television scheduling niceties of the media.

Then one of the more bizarre things I have ever heard of was Barbados v Grenada in Caribbean competition in 1994, can't remember the circumstances, but I think the competition had odd tie breakers and both teams were trying to score own goals with each at some points defending goalmouths they should have been attacking

I agree in principle, however I wonder if any discussions with the local constabulary actually happened. (No idea by the way, just playing Devil's Advocate).
Let's face it, the average Joe couldn't normally care less if the kick off was 11am, 3pm or 8pm. In this particular case of Sunderland vs Newcastle, the kick off time being 4pm on a Sunday afternoon is just a riot waiting to happen. I really hope that Northumbria Police manage to get the game shifted to 11am or 12pm or something more suitable.

I can only imagine the uproar if there was significant disorder reported and the various media comments that would inevitably follow, pointed to the kick off time. Sorry but this potential problem is entirely preventable or at the very least reduce-able (made up word...sorry)

Since 2007, at Sunderland, it has normally kicked off at around 1245(Saturday) 1300(Sunday) and even 12 untelevised, games at St James' Park always seem to kick off on a Sunday at 1pm.

Surely, Sky could have put this game on it's Saturday or Sunday Lunchtime slot, unless there is a more high profile game the same day

Absolutely amazing. Bizarre circumstances forcing a bizarre result...

The Wiki says that Barbados needed to win by two goals to qualify, and that Golden Goals counted double. Barbados went two up, putting them in the position they needed - but when Granada scored one back, they were in trouble. Ultimately, the Double Golden Goal rule meant it was easier to try to force a goal in Extra Time, so they tried desperately to score an own goal...

In recent years Northumbria Police have used an 8ft high barrier at the Stadium of Light for Derby games and against the smoggies in the fa cup in 2012, like the Berlin Wall of Football Grounds , to prevent fan disorder, only I ever saw this before was at Tynecastle after a Hearts v Sunderland friendly in 2009

He's been told that Villa want him off the wage bill a.s.a.p. he is training with a few other outcasts and is definitely not in Lamberts plans.

His new wife is hoping for a London move as she doesn't fancy Newcastle.

I don't think Lambert has actually made a press statement to this effect but I can assure you his games for Villa are either going to be few or none.

What Rooney has done is made himself out to be a complete idiot to be honest, and I'm afraid the stats over the last season don't really add weight to his argument. I like him as a player, but again this is an episode where he's shown how much of an idiot he can be.
