Cheers all!
SS4) it's Probably no consolation, but I've seen teams turn up at OT and play a lot worse than you guys today. Will you stay up? I don't know, but there are some promising signs there.
Butts) locally I'm Hereford, but this makes up for united being runner up last year, and both the Grecians and the Bulls going down.

Is Fergie for real when he said RvP's second tonight was goal of the century? Has he forgotten Zidane's volley in the 2001 CL Final and Messi v Madrid (the second at the Bernabeu) in the CL semi-finals a couple of years ago? Well taken yes, but I wouldn't even have said it's goal of the season!

Van Persie has been an inspired signing of an experienced top level forward with a great deal of experience of football played at a high standard. I am sure that many of Arsenal's supporters really miss his presence in their team this season.

Glad it sounds like I'm not the only one who thought that pre- 2011-2012 van Persie was a sicknote, above average striker at best. To be fair to him though he has been on fire these last two years. Just how long he can keep it up for though is another matter. There are plenty of one season wonders around - Demba Ba for one!
As are we all, potentially.I....
Luis Suarez is on the road to Perdition....![]()
Why is this incident deserving of a long ban when more violent dangerous play is often just shrugged off?
This comment might sound controversial but it was 2 'lucky' balls which made Van Persie's 2nd goal tonight, if the ball was played a fraction harder or softer it wouldn't of been as good as it was. Personally I like the goals which has a good build up rather than hoofing it up there but I am not taking it away that it was a good goal, but that is about it, not a world class or goal of the season/century. I thought Rafael's goal at Loftus Road was by far much better, the technique he had to do to hit it first time, keep it low was really good, many people would sky it over the stand
That is ducking the issue, somewhat. But what I find fascinating is the outrage, horror, general extreme reaction caused by a silly act that actually caused the "victim" no harm whatsoever. It is as if it was, in some way, "unmanly" ("childish" is the most common term used), and damages the reputation not only of the sport but also those who play it. And no one seems able to explain this.Let us not view both matters in terms of comparative transgressions. Let us view both of these separately with the severity that both that should be be judged for the offences that were committed.

Not to mention the 20-30 goals per season![]()

Well, Bayern have done well tonight.
Barca being absolutely, completely and utterly trounced. Bayern 4-0 Barca. Perhaps if Barca spent longer concentrating on football instead of pitching a fit every time something didn't go their way they'd be in a better position...
To be fair, Barca do have some causes for complaint, like when their player was wiped out off the ball for Robbens goal ....

I'm thinking that Alty could take fourth in Halifax's place (if Alty beat Halifax, Chester beat Halifax, and then whatever happens at Stalybridge to Halifax, plus Alty beat Droylsden.) I already know that Brackley are finishing 3rd this season.
If you can't be certain a player is offside then it isn't offside. If you can only tell someone is a few cm offside in replays, then you can't give them as offside because in real time from the touch line you could never be certain. So Manchester United's goals aren't against either the spirit or the letter of the law, so what's the complaint?
My gut instinct was 4-0 Bayern this evening, this result comes as absolutely no surprise whatsoever. Bayern have been lethal this season, whilst Barca were woeful v AC first leg and scrapped past PSG in the last round and without Messi look quite average. Perhaps this sucking up to Barca will now stop, Bayern are the new force in Europe and hopefully this has really sent out a message that Bayern are currently the best team on the planet by a mile.
