Anyway, we out played you completley and deserved to win, well done for mentioning that fact

I didn't watch the game - I have no means of doing so - so I couldn't comment. If we were outplayed then we deserved to lose. Simple as that. It doesn't mean I hope Leeds progress any further though! I guess that means you've been happy with Everton twice this season then (losing to you but beating Man U on the first Monday of the season)?

If you're wondering, the Leeds hatred comes from other people in my family, and the 2007-ish period when every other negative story in the press (that wasn't related to some Argentine bloke called Carlos) was about Leeds. Back in 2000 or so, I didn't really dislike them at all.

It was quite worrying at times to be honest. I was with my girlfriend and my old dad walking through the masses of people exciting the West Stand (we was in the North stand) The Everton fans were in the South Stand with some in the West stand but with a totally seperate exit. They broke through Police lines and attacked a couple of Leeds fans but it was the poor woman minding her own business that disturbed me a bit. No one could get to her at first because the Everton fans wouldn't let Police and medical crews up the stairs.

It was a real shame. I've never seen a woman attacked in that manner.

I don't know the full details of what's gone on, but I would wager that Venky's are more to blame than Kean. How much has he been given to spend? How much influence is he allowed over contract negotiations (wages etc.)?

As a generic question, how would a fan feel if it was revealed that the club business strategy was not to get promoted, but always be challenging, so as to avoid the financial pitfalls of a higher division? Balancing guaranteeing the club's existence against higher division glamour?

As long as the Rangers supporters do not take the notion that since this rather remarkable result has been achieved, it will be the final turning point of this season and will expect that it will now be something of a "cakewalk" in all the remaining home and away Division Three league games for the remainder of this season.

It is not so very long ago that Annan Athletic FC proved to be a somewhat difficult team to try to achieve a result against in such an away match that you describe in your posting.

A very nice analogy if I may say so! But the way Villa have been over the last few years, surely they're a perma- green shell (i.e. always a potential threat, but ultimately an aimless one)?

It is a complete disgrace, Rio only got a smaller fine with no ban for putting on Twitter that he thought Ashley Cole was a "choc ice" also a racist term. That is surely a clear cnviction

One thing I knew when I posted that was that you'd reply saying this!

Over a week's wages I believe. Bear in mind that if say someone on average wage was fined one week's then it does seem quite steep.

I personally don't have a problem with what John Terry or Wayne Rooney or Bob Diamond or whoever earns, if they pay tax on it (which the majority do!), and spend the most of it in our economy then I really don't care, they provide a service not many can and as such earn more.

You're understandably wrong, but still wrong. For a start, the standards of proof required in a court of law are much higher than for an FA tribunal. Then, in the FA tribunal he was charged with a different offence which included, IIRC, a reference to using racially abusive language, which is against FA rules. As he had admitted in court to doing that, there was no way he could possibly be cleared by the FA.
What puzzles me is why Terry received a four match ban, while Suarez received double that despite the evidence of the offence being weaker.

The Rangers quip was a joke - I have ribbed you before about pinching all my teams (Hearts) best players. If you look back I disagreed with the decision to stick Rangers in the 3rd Division and stated so on here in contrast to the way Hearts voted.

I don't begrudge Bankers or Footballers getting high salaries (allocation of scarce resources and all that). What I do find hypocritical is that no criticism ever seems to be directed at the salaries paid to star footballers playing for clubs that are not winning anything and losing money. Contrast this to the same in the Banking sector. Each case should be judged on it's merit not hyperbole.
