I don't know which was worse....the penalty decision or the attempt to score from it...:roll:

Justice was seemed to be served by the penalty save, so they achieved nothing in the end.

What must that do to the opposition team though seeing decisions as bad as that given against them. To add to that Man Utd were very lucky to keep 11men on the pitch and Wigan were denied a clear penalty. The decisions Man Utd get are incredible. I honestly think it would be easier if the FA gave them a 10 point head start at the start of the season because that is what they get in refs decisions.

Last nights game was tremendous. Everton will feel hard done by but they played a big part in one of the most entertaining games i've watched as a neutral for ages. Steve Harper is a class act, no doubt about it, i'm sure Anichebe was about to be booked before Harper stepped in and stopped the ref. Everton's first goal was a superb move but give Newcastle credit for not laying down, Demba Ba sent a major message to his boss last night.

I'm at Elland Road tonight for the mighty Leeds United against an in form Hull City. We need to win our home games but i'm not hugely confident. I'm sure our friends from East Yorkshire will be up for it as well.

Dad's a Man Utd fan (and always has been) so when I started following football, it was natural that I'd become a United fan myself. We've both been up to Old Trafford couple of times a season, although I'll admit I haven't been since 2010 as getting from Exeter to Manchester would prove difficult and the tickets weren't becoming available with sufficient notice to make arrangements to get up there.

Actively support local football teams - Hereford United who I have followed for a number of years and where I saw my first club game (First ever game was an England friendly at OT) and I've now adopted Exeter as a local team whilst down at Uni - and that's where you'll find me tomorrow night at the game against Wycombe.

Does that explain it now? I don't see the need to have a go at me for supporting United (not the first to have done it on the thread) and judge me on that? You should never have to justify the reason for supporting your football team(s) but now you have the evidence and some facts.

At least you do support your local clubs a little bit with your own cash. It was perhaps unfair to use you as a sounding board for my hatred of plastic PL "fans" who seem to think that "supporting" thier lads is to go, every staurday in replica shirts, to the Kings Head and watch Sky Sports News!

However, it must be so easy to support Manchester United. ( I do wonder who is the more sensible person!)

I am looking forward to the visit of Scunthorpe United to Oldham Athletic this coming Tuesday night to see which team will decide to do something positive to put smiles on the faces of their supporters.

Well, Scunthorpe United took a very early first half lead, but Oldham Athletic equilised before half time and with no further goals, a point each seemed a fair reward for both teams.

Rangers will have to come to terms with not further progressing in one cup competition and not therefore having the opportunity to add the Ramsdens Cup to their trophy room this season, after losing in the penalty shoot-out 4-3 to Queen of the South, after the match finished at 2-2 at final full time. Both teams were down to 10 men, from the phone call that I received with this information.

Still, no shame in losing a cup-tie against a team from a higher division and at least they found the net in the match, unlike last weekend's match at Annan Athletic where a 0-0 draw took place. South-West Scotland seems not a good place for Rangers to visit at the present time.

We were abysmal tonight. Big Lee McCulloch was once again our only above average performer. We seriously need to get our back 4 to communicate better with our midfield, at times I wonder if they know that they're on the same side. This probably isn't aided by having a CB who doesn't speak a word of English. We have a good squad, certainly, with all due respect, above SD3 level. However, struggling at the likes of Berwick and Annan concerns me, we cannot rely on 4-0 or 5-1 victories at home to see us right. I will congratulate QotS on their victory, however I think it was a mixture of them actually playing decent football and us being incapable of stringing a pass together. We could do with the small sums a cup run brings, however going out gives us the chance to concentrate on the league, which is absolutely indisputably our number 1 priority.

I sincerely hope on current form we avoid meeting any SPL teams in the SFA Cup, because at this rate we'd do well to lose by less than 4. It is exceptionally disheartening to see Mr McCoist stood in the dug-out motionless when things are going badly (i.e. tonight), he really needs Smith's passion at times. Then again, the best managers tend not to have been good players, and vice versa.

IMO McCoist is the problem. A good assistant but not good enough to be in overall control.

Last season he had a free pass after you were docked 10 points but previous to that he'd blown a 15 point lead in the SPL, got knocked out of Europe twice against hopeless opposition (combined Malmo and Maribor got 2 points out of 36 in the EL group stages), got knocked out the League Cup by Falkirk and out the Scottish Cup by Dundee United.

He is a poor manager and it is no wonder fans of other teams are starting to call him The Snowman as you hope he is still there in the morning.

A home fixture against Huddersfield Town. Brings back memories of the top-of-the-table clashes of last season in League 1. Johnson's goal reduced the deficit to only 1-2 before half-time, which should have been the impetus to get something out of the match in front of the fans. However it finished 1-3.

Incidentally, was it really over six minutes in time added on for stoppages at the end of the first half when Matlock was sent off? Both sides ended up with only 10 men.

Referee was very card friendly Paul, we didnt loose to them last season and our squad is alot stronger now and theirs is weaker consdiering the loss of rhodes!
I thought when they went down to 10 men and it was 2-1 we'd come back but it never materialised. Especially after Mattock got sent off (a signing i am not impressed by at the moment, hes not shown anything yet and he had championship pedigree)

Yes shame that hasnt changed! Well your home game against us in the cup was fairly dissapointing from your point of view. You let go a good lead and you were controlling the game. we didnt deserve to win.

I thought Wednesday would beat Huddersfield last night but I was badly wrong.

Amazingly, there was a Wednesday fan in my hotel down here in Walsall last night so we got talking about Yorkshire football in general and how it's incredible that Yorkshire has no presence in the Premier League.

I'm going to be at Hillsborough on 19th October when the (once) mighty Leeds visit. Obviously I hope Leeds win but I just can't see it at the moment.

We are playing Forest at the weekend, last season got beat 3-7 at Elland Road so god only knows what will happen on saturday. MOT.
