McCoist did not fail at Sunderland; he signed on there as a teenager and was unfortunate in that he played in a struggling team and was often played out of position as well. It's worth remembering that he wasn't exactly an instant sensation at Rangers when he arrived...

Incidentally, Boyd played very well when Middlesbrough loaned him out to Nottingham Forest, who performed far better in the league then Boro that season. Food for thought?

He was useless at Boro. He was terrible when they played him every week. He simply wanted the cash (c.30k per week) and did nothing else. You would think Strachen would have known how to get the best out of him.

McCoist kind of did OK with Rangers in the end!

And yes he is the top scorer in SPL history with 164 goals (63 of which came as a Kilmarnock player).

Forest season ticket holder here.

I was very impressed with Boyd, his reflexes inside the box are fantastic and a good finisher, he played a key part in reigniting our stuttering promotion push. Shame he didn't come up with the goods in the play-offs though. He did not contribute much outside the box, but hey a striker is paid to score goals first and foremost.

Currently unattached after leaving the Turkish side he signed for in the summer. Would have him back like a shot at Forest but not going to happen due to excessive wages (he was on 30k a week at Boro, ridiculous for a player of his ability).

Is everyone looking forward to the intensive football over the Xmas period?

Forest really need some wins to climb out then hopefully away from the drop zone. Not quite sure where they are coming from though, we have been truly dreadful as of late. Really fear we are heading inexorably towards relegation this season :(

There appears to be no Football League Show on either Monday or Tuesday. Seems very odd, given the full League schedule on the 26th.

All the goals will be on the BBC's website next week though so you can watch which matches interest you.

Jim White (Sky Sports a**ehole) nearly in tears as 'his' Rangers lose, saying the much 'vaunted' 15 points/season over 'shouts' of a few weeks back pale into significance...Game On...had worse days I suppose....

I have a view - total and utter garbage. He was nothing short of a disgrace at Boro. Shows just how poor the SPL is if he is one of the greatest Scottish centre forwards of recent years:roll:

Boyd is a bit Marmite, you either love him or hate him.

Scored a lot of goals about the bottom 6 teams in Scotland but struggled against the better sides and only scored about 1 goal against Celtic in something like 30 matches against them. IIRC when Celtic fans slag Boyd off they say that Henrik Larsson has actually scored more goals against Celtic than Kris Boyd has.

Also Walter Smith left him out in a lot of European games cause he would have been an empty jersey.

Is Boyd not the highest scorer in SPL history?

Yes, he has 164 SPL as opposed to Henrik Larsson who has 158 SPL goals. Boyd has played 101 more SPL matches than Larsson though.

What exactly is the current financial situation at Darlington?

to use a technical term - (Uwe)Fuched (a little joke for yu boro fans there!). I will try and dig out a link to a story that explains things very well. The problems go back many years and several owners and involve that bloody great stadium we have.

However, our patchwork team of kids and those who havent left yet are drawing 0-0 at half time with Gateshead and our caretaker/interim/god knows what manager and all round club legend (and i mean REAL legend not a made up Skysports legend - the kind of legend that plays on with a broken leg!) is working wonders getting perfomances out of people who havent been paid for 2 months. He is the only coach in the club, running the first and youth teams, and is being assisted by the kit man ffs!

Only a couple of hours before the worst team in the league at defending set pieces plays the team who score most of their goals from them. Carnage will ensue

At least one team in claret and blue is winning at the moment. Better yet they're beating small heath

Complete domination by Scunthorpe United in the first half at Glanford Park, complete capitulation in the second half .... 3-1 to Bury.

The only thing that matters is results, and with only 5 wins in 30 games for Alan Knill, I feel he is on borrowed time already at Glanford Park ....

Oldham Athletic once again proved their abysmal home form by losing 1-0 at home today. Had it not been for their away form, the "bottom 4" position would surely be beckoning.

On the other hand, my non-league side Hyde FC (top of the league) fought off a spirited Stalybridge Celtic (second in the league) in a keenly contested local derby and a 1-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of the match.

Wow, a shock we didn't concede a goal. Not so much a shock, we didn't score either.
Possibly one of the most boring game of anti-football ever to be shown live on sky.

Please mcleish, just go. Leave. Walk Away. No-one wants you here. No-one thinks you have the first idea about what you are doing. No-one wants to watch your brand of, ahem, football.

Sorry about that...

If the MotD highlights of Stoke v Villa are anything to go by, I've seen many matches that would never have filled half that much screen time.

Despite going 1-0 down early in the second half, you managed to draw the game 1-1, in what could have been a difficult away game. Your season still sees you in a respectable place of 12th in the Conference, with a record of:-

Played 26....Won 10 Drawn 7 Lost 9.... F 28 A 29.... Points 37
