Manchester City 1...Arsenal 0

Arsenal need to buy a Right Back and Left Back in order to cover for the loss of those positions. Having 4 centre backs playing against the richest club football team in the world isnt going to win you the game. They also need to bolster the forward line and the midfield. Citys bench probably cost more then the whole Arsenal team. Dont even get me started on that greedy barsteward Nasri.

One consolation surely must be that you only conceded one goal today in Manchester, as it was rather considerably more than that you conceded a few weeks ago when you visted the other team (who play in red and white) up here.

Luis Saurez has been handed an EIGHT match ban and fined £40,000 for his alleged racist abuse towards Patrice Evra recently.

Don't think you need add the alleged anymore !!
Does he still have the discipline over the one fingered salute at Fulham to come as well.

He's been found guilty of "misconduct". Can't see it being the crap at Fulham since the outcome is too severe for that. £40k is pittance to him, I doubt it's a week's wage, the eight match ban will be where it hurts and I can see Liverpool appealing thanks to their run of fixtures

Looks like fun at Blackburn where both sets of fans are singing "you're getting sacked in the morning" at Steve Kean

That game got boring so I switched to the Wolves game. But thanks to good old fashioned bias I'm getting a discussion on Chelsea instead of a recap of the first half from Molineux <(<(<(<(

Seems to have been found guilty based on the word of Patrice Evra. It will be interesting to see what happens to John Terry as he was caught on camera - hopefully do everyone a favour and ban him for life.

Surely now legal proceedings should follow against Suarez.

You forget the top rule at FA towers: Manchester United are always right.

Well the precedence has been set now. So surely if found guilty he must get at least the same

A good example of this how the FA attempted to levy a year’s ban on a Manchester United player for missing a drugs test which he subsequently took and passed.

While one Manchester City player escaped a suspension for the same offence and another received only a six months suspension (coinciding with the summer break) for actually failing a drugs test.

Musical chairs game at the foot of the Premiership

Luis Saurez has been handed an EIGHT match ban and fined £40,000 for his alleged racist abuse towards Patrice Evra recently.

Let me start this posting by saying that I am not a supporter of ANY Premiership club, so I have no "axe to grind" in this matter. It appears that Suarez feels that some of what we term racism is not viewed as bad as we view it, in his own country. It may be a cultural difference in some of the South American countries.

He was also stupid enough to make the "one finger" gesture to opposing fans in another recent game, whilst the current case was being discussed by the disciplinary panel. Whilst, of course, this is nothing to do with the matter in hand, it may well have to do with the way things are viewed in South America, but you would have thought that someone at his club would have had a quiet word with him to ask him to be very careful in his behaviour on the field whilst the racism matter was still in the process of being discussed by the disciplinary committee.

You all may have your views on the Suarez matter, but the campaign to "kick racism out of football" cannot be selective but must be applied comprehensively. Had what Suarez was charged with happened against a lesser team in the Premiership, would the forum members views have been somewhat different in the tone of their comments.

I think the suarez punishment is over the top. Only evidence was that of evra. No other player in a crowded penalty box heard it. No tv coverage showing it.

I think John terry with tv evidence against him best be worried about the length of his ban,

I have been looking on some Sports Forums with regard to Luis Suarez and the matter. One question from many European posters was to query the expressed innocence of the Uruguayan player and the rather simplistic belief in his veracity and also to state that this player has not been playing all that long in Britain and has no real idea of British culture. The majority of the posters were Spanish...not French, where you might have expected patriotic support for Evra.

I wonder how well do British sports fans know Luis Suarez.

It seems to me that the word used by Suarez "negrito" is culturally equivalent to "taff" or "jock" over here.

I wonder if there would have been such an outrage if he'd called Evra a "frog" and if it would have been construed as being racist.

A Guardian journalist said that he had been "categorically told" the word was negro, not negrito. In any event using 'negrito' during a heated argument with someone would not be seen as a friendly, in much the same way you might call a friend a taff or a jock but wouldn't do it with someone else in an argument.

Suarez has played in Europe since he was a teenager so couldn't really claim to be ignorant of cultural sensitivities either.

Sorry to any Leeds fans but absoultely beaming after our win today :D

6 pts off Leeds & West Ham, dare I start to believe playoffs are a possibilty??

We was awful. Actually that is being kind.

Fortunatley, since that game i've been to a Christmas party and watched Shed Seven live at Leeds 02 academy so i'm cheered up a bit but stood at Elland Road on saturday was depressing.

Personally, I didn't think Reading were that good, actually, I didn't think they were good at all. We should have been spanked 0-5 on saturday, we was just awful (as we were at Watford the previous week to be honest) I can't even remember us having a shot on target, all I remember is a poor, weak, pathetic header by McCormack straight at the keeper. Our midfield was a joke and the defence was clueless.

Still, no games until Boxing day so maybe Grayson will us playing. It shows what a poor league the championship is because Leeds have been completley and utterly awful for most of this season yet we sit 6th. Amazing.

having just watched motd2 on iplayer, two thoughts....

-i was surprised that carrick even scored a goal at QPR, let alone a pretty good one, but it happened. he seems to have undergone a sort of revival of late... however, i've never been convinced about him or gareth barry. they both seem to be neither inventive attacking midfields or hard-tackling defensive midfielders, they just seem to float around and do little

-should arsenal not have had a penalty against man city? i thought kolo toure took ramsey's legs out but the ref thought otherwise

Sorry for taking the thread a bit O/T but how good are Shed Seven live!!! :D:D Great band.

I saw them for about the 7th/8th time when they were in Aberdeen at the end of November.

Was like the 90s again except everyones gut was a couple inches bigger.

The fact Suarez admitted using a racially objectionable word isn't evidence then ?

Try having a heated discussion with a "taff" or a "jock" in Cardiff or Glasgow and use that word and see how they react.

When Liverpool signed Suarez a member on a Villa forum I frequent who lives in Amsterdam suggested it wouldn't be long before Suarez was embroiled in a bit of controversy. Didn't take long did it.

I haven't seen anywhere he admitted it,

As cps are having John terry, if he's found guilty his punishment will have to be considerably heavier than suarez.

He has admitted using the word Negrito. He openly came out with this it was part of his defence. Apparently that word used in Uruguay isn't classed as racist or offensive but more as a greeting.
