:lol::lol: not going to argue with you :lol::lol:

Anyway back to current operations of the group.

201 branding has been reported suspended/cancelled **fleet movements suggested**
69041 - Now on running board at Scotstoun Depot (already been out past few days)
39142 - reported to be going back to ADL.
Enviro 400sLH will be converted to E6 for Glasgow operations.

Good day

Most of Blantyre’s E300s have been partially branded up already but can’t help but notice they’ve been on the 240, 263 and 267 a lot more recently. By “fleet movements suggested” do you mean as in the E300s will be moved off the 201 now?

Glad the E400s are staying on the fleet although it would be nice to see them refurbished to the same standard is the 14 plate E400s that were here for the Commonwealth Games.

Have any of the services with branded buses had a big passenger increase? I'm not a regular user of any of the services with new buses that are branded but the likes of the 18, 38s and 75 etc were always very busy services even before branding
TrentBarton and NCT have certainly increased passenger numbers with branding.

Its network has been slashed over the years.

Back to Glasgow, so will the changes go ahead or not?

Remember that in Nottingham, the network will have been amended because of the tram. Nonetheless, bus use in Nottingham is increasing but as well as marketing, the main thing has been a number of public transport priority and company car park surcharging initiatives that have promoted bus use. Meanwhile, Glasgow has pursued a car centric policy and there are plenty of city streets where bus lanes could be provided but instead, on street parking rules!

I’d guess that something will have to happen. If Glasgow isn’t hitting it’s targets (and the talk of cuts on top of the third fares increase in 18 months suggests that they’re undershooting), then the only quick solution is more cuts.

I think they’d be making a mistake cutting running times and layovers too much. You could get away with it between 9 and 3 in the afternoon, but at other times the buses are struggling. They might decide to go ahead off-peak, save a bus, and just widen the headway in the peaks like they do elsewhere, but that’s the one time the buses are really busy, so self-defeating.

Evening services would be an easy target, but that would be disappointing – Glasgow still has decent coverage after 7 on most routes. Sundays are quieter than they used to be, so maybe some cuts here. All a bit depressing really….[working at home this week with the news channel on in the background *really* isn’t bringing out the optimist in me]

The problem in Glasgow is that anything with a long route can be late any time of the day tbh so cutting layover time even as it is on any bus is stupid. The argument could easily be made that some buses don't have a long enough layover time. There's not many services with solid Sunday timetables tbh and the most frequent services are normally the busiest too on a Sunday from experience so it would be hard to cut ones without a bad reaction

I was thinking of the wider network as a whole ;) Shame the no2 to Oakham still doesn't run

How about cutting certain service in half? SPT and Glasgow City council should really make Hope street and Refrew street buses onlys

Not sure what services that would work for. People do get put off using buses when they're even every 30mins here going from what I've seen/heard on social media. Yeah there's a lot that needs to be done in the city centre. Having traffic lights that sync up well would be a start. Renfield st/hope st seem to go red when the next street's go green so it takes so long to get across town. Bus lanes need to be more enforced too outside the city centre. I have one near me and cars and vans just park in it and moving vehicles dive into it way before the end of it. It's never been fully clear. Scotstoun is weird too because there's a bus lane on one side of the road but not going towards the expressway/Whiteinch after Anniesland Road at Kingsway. It could really do with it being a 2 way thing

What i like is frequency , connecting to a every 3o mins bus is awkward . Even every 15 mins is not good .

Is it just the normal E400s that are staying ?

Yeah definitely. I can understand people being put off it tbh. Ended up having to resort to the subway the other day because the original plan was scuppered by a 90 not turning up at Govan

Yeah definitely. Having services in Glasgow with routes longer than say an hour and a half will always lead to major problems. The 3 and 6 are also very bad for it

Another problem I think First have had is that we've had pretty much the same routes since Simplicity started. Could we do with a big refresh/reroute offering new places new routes? I've seen a few ideas of this from people and I think it could be a good uplift

None of the E400s are leaving. Hybrids are getting converted to E6. We should be seeing that happening once the next batch of vehicles have arrived to allow these to come off for work to be carried out. Believe they do need to go south for this work but not 100%

Hopefully they’ll give them a refurbishment while they’re down there and brand them up for the 6 or whatever route they want them for.

They could make the routes and timetables available say 3 months in advance so people have a better idea when services start. Simplicity was a mess at first because there was a lack of understanding available to people

Not to sure in regards to refurbishment of the interior. We will see what the months ahead are to bring in regards to the group as I can see things getting an big shake up soon.

I wouldn't be shocked if the 9/9A get reduced to Every 6 Minutes (12 each), likewise with the 18 and 75. You'll probably find the bulk of these changes will just be frequency cuts to save 1 or 2 buses on each route (much higher number once you combine all the savings together). If the changes are in October we should see the registrations go in within the next week or so.

They plan to keep the same frequency on most of these routes but take buses off and cut running times and layover time at each end to achieve the savings.

The changes may not go ahead depending on the outcome of today’s ballot for strike action.

The X1 is the only one I know of so far which is being taken off altogether although they may still run at peak times I’ve heard.

Quite a few services in there that can hardly stick to their running time as it is tbh. The 6 and 60/60A are bad for it from experience

If that is the case they could easily free up a good few buses in order to scrap the older ones especially with LEZ coming up.
