So many of these services seem to run around in pairs as it is, so how does cutting running times & layovers help? I get that there are times on a quiet Tuesday morning when buses crawl along, or sit at stops, but most of the time they’re struggling. On the south-side, the 38s all seem to be hammering along just to keep to time…

I can understand the bunching with the 38s as they're so frequent but there's ones like the 6 that are every 10mins and come in sets of 3/4 within 5mins. The other thing with a lot of these services are that they're late as the quietest times too so as you say nothing good will come of this certainly from a driver safety and customer point of view

Case in point what I was saying about the 6. They need to cut down routes over 2 hours. Just end up so late so often

X1 6/6A 7/7A 9/9A 18 38 46 57/57A 60/60A 61 75 201 267 and 500 service are the ones apparently going to be effected by the October changes
This will be the reason the 201 branding has been suspended then possibly due to freq change or so they don't brand too many vehicles perhaps.

240 always the same. They run in pairs at all times of the day

Yeah I've seen that a few times. Normally okay at Motherwell towards town but by the time they've got through Bellshill the next one has caught right up. From the city centre they can be very messy even from trongate onwards

No frequency change for the 201. It is one of the routes they plan on operating to the same frequency but with a bus less.

Roadworks in Motherwell affecting 240s just now.

There should cut the route in two Ie
* Ek - Motherwell then maybe newarthill?
* Hamilton - Monklands.

What gets me is the way that First don’t try to proactively deal with bunching. Surely, somebody, somewhere can see that there are 3 6s in a row. With the 6, could you not send one out of service to start up again in the town, more or less on time? I tend to see the 6 on the southside and seeing two or three together is common – again, can you not turn one at EK bus station instead of sending all three down to Calderwood? Very rare to see a bus going ‘part route’ – if it gets the service back on track they should try it. Or have First cut back so much that nobody is actually looking at what’s happening out on the road?

There's a guy they have monitoring things in Clydebank and he reorganises the 1s a lot as they're always late by sending the one that's most late either as a not in service to the city centre or scotstoun depending on how late. Other than that I do see some staff occasionally in very specific areas but to refix lateness it seems to be drivers own initiative. I've seen it with a 90 that was 25mins late. Ran non stop between Govan Cross and the QEUH and then started from there instead of Braehead. Bit harsh for anyone who needed it from Braehead or Ikea though as it would mean an hour without a bus

Could definitely work tbh. Only problem is that the 254 is branded and goes to Newarthill so it would waste branding.

It’s all done from a control room in Caledonia depot now. They cover all depots.

Theres a good inspector whos sometimes at Osborne st , he will take off a bus say 5 and put it on 31 if ones missing . If ones not there then nothing happens . Can a bus be nabbed off another depot ?

Saw a few of the ex-Cymru B7RLEs around the east end today in particular one on the 2. It really looked the part in the new livery and the lights inside looked more white LED and the seats looked retrimmed too.

The B7RLEs are such nice buses they would have been grand with a little refurbishment and could have lasted much longer but the work has never been put out on them and most are really grubby.

Yeah I've seen a guy there a lot. Always gets tricky though as he tells 1s to not go into Osborne st to save a few mins when there's a bus stop full of people waiting on it. I think buses can be sent between depots to cover breakdowns if urgently required. Seen it before with a 9 and 90. Breakdown for both was covered by Caley even though they're scotstoun services as far as I'm aware

Yeah , you even notice how cleaner the ones are in Falkirk compared to Glasgows .

Waited an hour on a 1 today. Shows how much trouble marches can cause to transport. Meant to have been 12 buses in the time I waited Was so relieved after the 1A eventually appeared

Was chaos today , services to East End were diverted via Gorbals and Bridgton . Few people waited an hour for a 60.

Yeah I stayed out of the city centre as much as possible after a short time in Sauchiehall Street but everything was chaos at that point. Nice 65 plate single decker on the 6 into the City Centre was about the only positive journey today lol Can't remember what type of bus it was. Seen one on the 4 too that was the same

The Euro 3 B7RLEs (Pre-56 plate) are not that good imo, they're showing their age. We have 69110/122/123/124 (stolen from the SF06 batch) in Aberdeen and the difference between them and the Euro 4 07/57/08 plates is like night and day, the Euro4s are far nicer vehicles and in much better condition. Most of the B7RLEs around Falkirk are Euro 4 examples too, Aberdeen also has 7 Ex-Larbert B7RLEs and they're good vehicles, but the native examples are much tidier internally and seem more reliable.

Less people using them compared to Glasgow means less abuse but I always thought the external appearance their of buses was worse than FGs.
