So straight away that 12 decker from next years order out the window. I wonder if Glasgow will be able to keep the current E300 stock and refurbish them or will there be sent away?
A very much doubt they will order 12 deckers for the 500

Did see an 09 plate Gemini on a 75 yesterday!

Not noticed any changes to allocations , maybe theres a surplus . When the new E400S go on the 18 , the 53 plates have to go somewhere .
06 and 07 b7 deckers are moving to England

Hopefully they order 12 high spec alx400 buses for the 500 and consider putting the current fleet onto the 77 to keep the airport services consistent and premium much like Lothian.

Ilol be curious what other routes will receive new buses next year, the 60 has been mentioned a few times to me.

They don't make ALX400s any more so that will be difficult !

The 77 has premium fares to the airport too . A overheard a lady getting a single from the Hospital to airport for £5.30 . Cheaper to buy all day at £4,50 or use a pass if you have one .

Glasgow Airport falls under Network, so an all day is £5.50. A £4.50 is City or Local only.

I see , would be difficult to enforce , ive used my pass out there .

You can use your NEC to the airport, but the Airport falls under the Network. Not sure why you're saying it would be difficult to enforce. All it would take is for the driver to look at the ticket and see straight away it was the wrong ticket.

It’ll be E400MMCs that’s the only decker Glasgow seems to be getting just now. I agree putting the current stock on the 77 would be a good idea.

The 60 could be doing with new buses. The ALX400s are far from new. Although have saw a few E400MMCs on the later 60 services as of recent. It’s mainly B7Ls and ALX400s it gets which is rubbish for such a big route.

Saw loads of new E400s on the 75 yesterday. Also saw a YN53 Gemini on the 18 in the new livery, I.e. The same one as the 75 & 61. Surprised at that, thought these would be heading for scrap before too long

Do drivers check tickets now? Surely Ticketer wouldn't accept the QR Code as it's not valid on that part of the network? You might be able to go to the airport, but boarding at the airport shouldn't be possible.

If it doesn't scan correctly on the QR Reader after a couple of attempts, the driver will take it and have a look.

Of course, but I was meaning that Ticketer has removed the need for Driving Staff to check tickets manually. The QR Code should stop travelling outside your zone with an invalid ticket.

Not all the time, what's to stop a passenger using a City ticket all the way to Motherwell? For example the 240 goes through both City and Network zones. If it scans ok, the driver rarely checks the screen.

That requires revenue protection, though it always has. Take McGill's for example. I could board a 901/906/907 in Glasgow with a GoZone 1 Ticket, based on the assumption I'm travelling to Braehead. The ticket will scan, but there's no way I can be stopped from staying on until Largs. That was always the case pre Ticketer, so still does need ticket inspections. However, if I want to return I shouldn't be able to scan a GoZone 1 Ticket in Largs. Pre Ticketer I could've attempted it, and it would depend how vigilant the driver was.

I would have thought it would make more sense for the B7TLs to go to England rather than the B9TLs. Glasgow should keep their stock as new as possible not give it away. Maybe not be by much but the 54 plates are very different to the 07 plates.

I thought it was the Euro4 B9TLs that they were keeping for exhaust conversions and losing the Euro3 B7TLs.

Balancing fleet profiles is a dark art in First. Bristol received a number of 54 plates from Glasgow, swapped with 2013 Streetlites. The B7TLs arrived but then some almost identical 55 plates (in better condition) departed for Chelmsford!

A better parallel is the arrival of various new fleet into Leeds over time. Some have replaced the oldest vehicles in the fleet but quite a few have enabled the cascading of relatively youthful 2012 B9TLs to places like Norwich/Great Yarmouth, Sheffield and Swansea.

Given the number of hired B7TLs in Bristol at the moment, some additional deckers might be welcomed!

Lothian do not have Streetdecks, they have Geminis. The Streetdeck is a product built entirely by Wrightbus where as the Gemini is a Wrightbus body on a Volvo Chassis.

Last time I tried to get my head round the First network in Glasgow, the Drumchapel - Clydebank service confused me. To me, it used to be the 40 (though presumably it used to be something different to that, once upon a time).

Now it's the 60 every twenty minutes, but enhanced by the M60 - however whilst the 60 was a simple three buses per hour, the M60 timetable I saw was for six buses an hour in gaps of 7-8-15-7-8-15 (i.e. would be eight buses per hour if a half hourly service slotted into it, but the 60 is every twenty minutes rather than half hourly).

Is this me making a dumb mistake scanning over timetables, or First having out of date timetables on the website or are the gaps (from Drumchapel to Clydebank) really that awkward?

True - we (Sheffield) got the (six year old) 12 plate B9TLs whilst Leeds has retained some much older buses - it's rare that a First cascade sees a depot getting brand new buses and only withdrawing it's oldest ones - sometimes its a case of being careful for what you wish for!

Reported that 37147-55 (2006) and 37172-9 (2007) are the ones, with 37153/77 already in Sheffield

We're getting the old gang back together

Glasgow must have been delighted to get the 53/06 plate Geminis from Olive Grove in exchange for some knackered 51 plate B7Ls and some 55 plate RLEs that seemed to take a couple of years until they were reliable - they must have had a hard paper-round in Glasgow!

(I think the only other ex-Glasgow buses we have are the 14-plate E400s that spent a couple of weeks in service at the Commonwealth Games, so not really proper "Glasgow" machines)

In an ideal world, the 53-plates would be getting binned off by now (all those trips out to EK must have worn them out), but presumably they'll be kept in service (since there are still a lot of older buses in frontline service across the "empire")?

As there are still W regs in use, the 53 plates will have some life left. They may well last until the end of the Lez zone introduction.

For all intended purposes, Wrights Daimler-engined “Streetdeck” uses “Gemini 3” bodywork, Streetdeck is just the name given to identify it as wrights own integral designed vehicle.

Think of the streetdeck as a “Wright Gemini 3 Integral”

It's still incorrect to say Lothian have Streetdecks. It's the Gemini 3, it even says so on the Wrightbus website....
