What about Mcgills? There operated via the Fastlink and then give up, Also First has never operated Govan Direct Glasgow service in years. There is no demand for such service why would people from Easterhouse go to silverburn when there is Glasgow Fort next door? Travel time would be 80-90mins? bonkers, you would be quicker taking X19 and then changing to an x8.

For instance those going from westerhill to the very bottom of refield st instead of having to get off at the bus station and walk, for those students who may penilee to cally uni etc!
It simply opens up more for people, even if its only for another few stops.
Even suburban routes that dont go to the city centre don’t seem to be well implemented, bottom line having so many operators in glasgow is making them all suffer, they should be regulated more, no use in mcgills and first competing with say the 38 and 9 etc.

With regards to extra long routes when you consider that the 2 and 6 for instance are long inter-suburban routes, most people wont go from Clydebank to East Kilbride, but its always there incase

The Yellow branded buses at ADL are for the 75, one sat at falkirk right now, I assume even though there was rumours of 75 new vehicles or 25 new vehicles which no one seemed to know.
I take it there will be 25 new buses for the 75 route???

McGills have got the Govan route sown up with the 23. Cant remember any first route along the 23 route to Govan ?

The 6 is a good example . Very important route as it has important connections such as Clydebank to Anniesland /GWR , West End to Southside , Clarkston /Busby to EK etc , it does suffer from poor timekeeping though , never rely on a 6 .

I think Nottingham done away with cross city routes , though you gotta to wonder where would you terminate them all ? There was talk of Osborne St Car park being turned into a Bus Station

Agree that the 2 could do with more capacity. If they could lose the Airdrie section, it might work as an all decker route, but it has a high PVR so would be expensive to do at a time when the existing decker routes need new vehicles.

Agreed. The only real option would be a return to the previous 62/262 split to do that. Deckers to Airdrie probably aren't an option due to the low bridge at Kirkwood station

Are they basically the same buses E400mmcs as the 65 plates ?

Not a fan of leather seats , sticky in summer , cold in winter .

Mechnically yes, as I'm aware anyways first and stagecoach usually buy the standard bus(its cheaper), not sure of the interior, they will have leather seats, thats a given, the flooring might be one-tone wood effect like the latest refurbs seen at FiG, or the ones at Livi, my biggest annoyance with the eLeather they use isits durability, glasgow 62/63 plate 300's are finding the seats wrinkled and already worn out after 5 year

These buses look extremely smart and I’m loving the branding. From the picture the grab poles at the door look like the colour that’s on the platinum E200s that’s Aberdeen have and the airport E200s?

I guess that frees up some more B9TLs for other services such as the 60/60A, 41 and 61 to oust the remaining Tridents...

So FiG are offering £2300 to start with them yet you dont get the 1st £1000 until 12 months in and a further £1300 at the 2 year mark, I cant see this as being a big incentive for anyone to benefit from in until the end of the 1st year

The lighlty coloured floor shows up dirt far too easily as well, take note FiG.

When comparing buses the only few options you find on lothians are the extra glazing on the staircase, roof and upper A-pillars, the durabright alloys and a white LED hanover, apart from these things the streetdecks are standard with a voith gearbox, zf an options.

Or standard with a zf gearbox on a volvo chassis

Q & A. The Enviro 400H’s that FiG have, have these turned out to be more reliable than Lothians equivalent 400H’s? Considering there the same age i’d be interested to know!

Well i seen one broken down at rush hour at Gorbals Cross today , seen and been on quite a few broken down . Think Scotstoun have them all now , horrible slippy seats on them
