The ban on eastbound services using the curve was imposed following the Newton collision in 1991.

April 1992 saw me having a rear cab ride to Norwich in a 158 so I could get some photos of the last day of Ely West Curve before resignalling and singling. 60010 (I think) is seen waiting the road at the hard to pull 22 signal with the Peak Forest empties. The light was fading so the photos aren’t the best quality, but hopefully of interest.

1R62 06:51 ex-Norwich was also routed via the curve this morning owing to a fault in the rear cab of 158783.
