Has there been any proposals of what the frequency increase will be?
AFAIK, there is little increased frequencies but the capacity of a '5-car' B23 train will be higher than a '6-car' B07 train so there will be an increased capacity. There are plans to extend all peak and most off-peak Stratford to Canary Wharf trains through to Lewisham increasing the number of peak trains between Canary Wharf and Lewisham from 22.5 per hour to 30 per hour and off peak from 12 per hour to 24 per hour but I'm not sure there will be sufficient trains to achieve this nor sufficient passengers to justify the off-peak uptick. And of course, I'm talking about a comparison with the timetable before they starting chipping away at it to allow them to remove some of the B92 stock from service.

It's going to be interesting when (eventually) the B23 rolls into service. Having 3 different types of DLR trains running at the same time for a short while will be fairly fun. This is similar to when the S7 stock was being rolled out and the District line had to run on three stock types around the early 2010s

And of course the B2K stock are technically distinct and can't couple to the B07 stock so you'd have a distinct maintenance regime for a sub-fleet of 8 2-car trains (or 5 3-car trains) max.
Can the B90. B92 & B2K stock all work in multiple with each other, but the B07 stock can only work in multiple with B07 stock?

Has there been any further testing going on lately?
There are huge swathes of the DLR closed every weekend, going through from now to August. I have noticed one of the new trains out at a couple of points in past weekends, but always just sat stopped, not going anywhere.

The Bank to Lewisham, Canary Wharf to Stratford are not running this weekend whilst the Bank to Woolwich Arsenal services are only running between Canning Town and Woolwich Arsenal so I think we can assume that there is some testing over those closed sections. Curiously, there is also no service after 23:00 on weekdays for most of the next 2 weeks, no idea why.

I don't know when the weekday evening closures were announced but certainly they were not there when we booked West End shows for those weekday evenings - deliberately, to avoid weekends which are just a no-go nowadays :( .

Presumably there will be no substitute buses. We guess that passengers are just thought of as an irrelevant nuisance by the "testing" team.

Isn't it better that the new trains are certified safe rather than rushing them into service where a potential fatality could happen.

Essential track work,i get an email each week from TfL.From Monday,a temporary timetable change affects a few lines, they also state some of the oldest units will be removed from use this summer.
Hope this helps.

It would be better if the project personnel knew how to run a project in the first place - like the original DLR, far more engineering that this, entire system, new infrastructure and stock, built and opened for £77m. That was all done pretty much within the time it has taken from ordering the current new stock, which still appears unusable. The current engineers seem completely out of their depth.

Yes, I get the e-mail from TfL each week - It explicitly states "This is while new trains are tested". Hope this helps.

BBC reporting about reduced timetable, though I don't think that's new info on this forum. I think they are doing the right thing, given the circumstances. Some things cant be known until you start testing, that's why they test do so much testing! Just shows how important it is to get the new bakerloo trains on the way to avoid the same thing happening on the brown line. Though hopefully most issues for bakerloo line will get spotted as part of picadilly roll out.

Sorry to go off topic a bit. I am trying to think of pragmatic lessons learned, and apart from just being angry peasants with pitch forks, I think the lesson is that delaying funding for new rolling stock is penny wise, pound silly.

The new Bakerloo Line trains are going to be basically the same as the Piccadilly Line ones so most of the kinks will have been ironed out through that testing although they'll still need to test it on the Bakerloo metal.

You seem to be a bit upset and making massive assumptions based on statements which have no bearing on the point you are trying to make. 11 trains and 15 stations at opening - carrying approx. 5.8m people a year has no relevance to the cost now and time taken upgrades for 45 stations (no idea in the difference in miles on the network) for 100 million passengers a year and 149 trains. (sets for both I would assume)

Also see page 3 https://www.mernick.org.uk/dlr/documents/39.pdf mentions teathing issues on opening. Including a the fact the trains didn't stop accurately at times. There were issues when the dlr opened. There have been a change of the signalling for the expansion in the 90s as the GEC system wasn't suitable. (I edited this as I had my facts slightly wrong)
You are not comparing like for like and ignoring issues with rolling stock and signalling when it was opened. If I was being as disingenuous as you seem to be - those who built the system wasted a fortune on the GEC system as it wasn't suitable for the expansion. But that would be stupid.

The network is a lot bigger so things will take longer to roll out, you are also comparing the building of a new thing where there is just lots of empty space and no existing service and comparing it to trying to run a service while implementing a new thing.
I am sure if we closed the dlr for 6 months 7 days a week no passengers and longer time to make the changes and test - things would be progressing more to the original timescale.

I guess it doesn't matter how the passengers find they are treated, because the DLR reports itself as perfect. Here are two posters side-by-side at our station, one stating they have achieved 99% of journeys completed (and presumably the operator paid for as such), how wonderful, the other showing the 7-day week timetable. In fact I don't think there has been a single Saturday or Sunday in this period when the service shown from here to Tower Gateway has run. Well, if you want to report to DfT such perfection, and pull the wool over Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander's eyes, all will think those who have complained about having every (as in every) weekend messed up are just inventing it.

They will be reporting against scheduled hours, so planned closures don't count. Annoying, but inevitable when lines are upgraded. I spent a long time having to deal with constant closures on the Victoria line so I do know how annoying it is

The schedule is that one shown right next to the performance report here. Eliminating any trains shown on there which are not run from the performance measure, and only measuring against a lesser number you did get round to running, let alone going "Ta-ra-ta-ra" about what a perfect service you are running currently, is completely dishonest. As far as the locals here are concerned the DLR is now quite unusable at weekends.

No, that's a timetable. Planned closures are not going to be included in performance figures. According to the TfL track closures, there are 6 weekends in the next 6 months when the line is closed, and on Friday 31 October, which is weird, the line isn't closed on 1 November

Closed on Friday 31 October between Beckton and Prince Regent.

Closed on Saturday 1 November and Sunday 2 November between Beckton and Canning Town.

But is this to be trusted? The recent weekend closures of the DLR have been sprung on us at quite short notice (from memory, barely a month notice). Given the radio silence on progress with the new trains (translation, lack of progress) I suspect we have more last-minute closures to endure in the next few months.

Not to mention that the oldest of the LU S Stock is already 17 years old.
Maybe 15 years old for s stock because I think the 09 stock came before the S stock. They were still also just testing in the early 2010, I remember seeing maybe 1 out of service at Harrow on the Hill, probably early 2010 as I was in college. But I'm speaking of when they have been on the underground network.

The first S Stock train was built in 2008, and they entered service on the Metropolitan Line in 2010. The first 2009 Stock was built in 2007, and they entered service on the Victoria Line in 2009.
