A few reasons why a lot of people dont like the IPL
Takes too long compared to normal T20 (I think it takes upto 30 mins longer per innings)

Lack of english players competing (although I do feel there is a compromise due between ECB & BCCI, English Test summer should start week later and IPL should start week earlier, should suit all parties IMO)

Maybe the fact it is shown during the day with no highlight show available is also a hindrance, perhaps a 1 hour highlight show could be shown at about 10pm every night might help more people become interested in it

After Lancashire's last seasons very poor middle-of-the-order batting performances, that certainly saw a team who had won the first division title the previous year go straight into relegation mode in one season, it was interesting to see that in the rain-affected first match in the second division, out of a total of 448-7 declared, the two overseas players of Ashwell Prince (95) and Simon Katich (84) put on a fourth-wicket stand of 181 runs.

For me the presenter that needs lofting over Cow Corner is Matt Smith (ITV) - just seeing the bloke annoys me...he tries to look as if he knows what he's talking about, but in reality probably knows and understands as much as i. :roll:

Whilst i'll watch most forms of the game the T20 format does appeal to many - the wife especially; she admits that she gets bored with anything longer. As it is i can agree with the comments about Gayle...if he gets out then RCB seem to have a problem, as though they rely on him to smash the ball here, there and everywhere. Saying that i'm a Delhi Daredevils fan...enough said about their form this season.

I did read the other day that the ECB want the IPL dates to be changed to allow more English players to participate, and so as it doesn't clash with the start of the domestic season here.

ECB chief executive David Collier says the IPL could be moved to fit in with the County season after "fruitful" talks with organisers.

"We have had very fruitful talks with India. In an ideal world, we would like the IPL to be concluded by April 30, which is the cooler season for India," he said. "We have put that to them, they are doing their best, but they realise there are some limitations.

"It would make things a lot easier for us. We still have to get the workload balance right, but it would make it a lot easier for our players to be available for that period and certainly the BCCI are fully aware of that.

"There is a willingness on the part of both boards to see if we can make any progress."

A ten wicket defeat for Notts was "uncharacteristic" this early on...traditionally good starters through April and May they were left wondering how they failed to get more from the match. Not helped by umpiring decisions going against them causing some heated discussions. A decent knock for a couple of the lads wasn't enough to stem the punishment dished out by the Middlesex batting order. Still it's onwards and upwards from here.

Agree, the defeat is uncharacteristic and obviously disappointing but hopefully one which they will put behind them quickly.

Good to see the side I follow get a draw out of this game. Still think Lancs are unhappy after Worcs did them in 1.5 days 2 years ago and almost screwed up Lancs chance of winning the title. Certainly the supporters weren't happy on day 2, kept moaning that Worcs should let them win as they hadn't won a title in 74 years, regardless of the fact Worcs needed points to avoid relegation...

A lot is going to hang on Alan Richardson's form for Worcs to do well this year...

Quite true, upon reading a few obituaries of Mike Denness I was surprised that I had forgotten that he was also someone who ran into an amount of opprobrium from a certain G Boycott, who 'declared himself unavailable' for the Ashes tour of Australia in 1974/5 and who thought that he should have been captain. Funny really, Boycott would have made one or two of today's 'show ponies' seem completely amateurish! I would imagine that Mike Denness, as a decent man, just shrugged his shoulders and carried on to the best of his ability.

A wonderful display of batting; not just brutal clubbing of the ball, but some deft well placed balls for fours and singles. One of the noticeable things was the resonating sound of the ball on bat - a good contact. A joy to watch.

As posted though it wasn't very good for Pune or their bowlers.

Glamorgan have, of course, played at Colwyn Bay for a number of years, but usually in August. It took me by surprise this year, only realised that they were there after a friend told me yesterday...I think that Lancs have been the opposition on a number of occasions, not least as it's not too far away and there are a number of retired Lancastrians (judging by the accents) living on the N Wales coast!

In other news YB40 started last night with a comfortable victory for Hampshire against Essex by 9 wickets with James Vince scoring 129* and helping his side home with a staggering 62 balls remaining. He and Michael Carberry (65) put on 156 for the opening wicket before Carberry gave a tame caught & bowled chance to Graham Napier

I was just thinking of another Glamorgan venue on the southern part of Wales away from their main ground in Cardiff where a rather dramatic over was played out. This was in 1968 at Swansea, when Gary Sobers struck all six balls bowled by the unfortunate Malcolm Nash in one over for six.
