We next move to Scotland for the next journey.....

This is number 719 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of Banff
It follows the line of the Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway
It then follows the line of the GNoS Moray Coast Railway
It then follows the line of the Morayshire Railway
It then follows the line of the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction
It then follows the line of the Great North of Scotland Railway Main Line... via Aberdeen Waterloo
It then follows the line of the Aberdeen Railway
It then follows the line of the Forfar and Brechin Railway
It then follows the line of the Scottish Midland Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway...note TWO sets of 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Fife and Kinross Railway
It then follows the line of the Devon Valley Railway
The journey ends at the closed station of Sauchie

The first closed station on this journey is Banff

Banff Harbour Halt

Not too sure about this one - it appears here on the Railscot entry for this line, but Banff Harbour was actually beyond (east of) the Banff terminus. There was a harbour siding extending past the goods shed and across the road into the harbour in 1868. It had gone by 1904.

You are quite correct in expressing reservations about this particular one, with your note of the harbour's actual location. I wonder if this stated halt was in fact the goods storage and handing building in the quayside area. RAILSCOT are normally quite good in the vast majority of the itemised station descriptions they include, but they are not infallible. Since 2011, I have had recourse to contact them on four occasions concerning errors, which to their credit, were all subsequently corrected by them.

I cannot make the next posting, as the quiz will continue from the original starting station of Banff.
