OK, now I have seen some stock jumble-ups but today has been somewhat strange. What with the plan of each pair of 707s releasing a pair of 458s for Reading, I thought it odd that today I've seen mostly 450s on the Reading again.
Then even more bizarrely, I turn up for 1A71 at Waterloo (2153 Alton), and it's a pair of 458s.! On the mainline! WTF??

I can confirm the 15:20 Waterloo-Reading was a pair of 458/5s.

That train has been booked a pair of 458s since December 2015.

Given that there is only one pair on the Reading line it's not at all odd that you've seen mostly 450s.

I believe the 458/5 on the Alton line is a regular diagram and has been since the reintroduction of the units after extension.

I arrived at CJ last night on the 20:34 from DJ, saw 707 005/7 heading in from Windsor, 11 and 12 were poking out of the shed. But two 707s where in the centre roads in the dark and couldn't make them out. Anyone help with their identity?

Many thanks, Graeme

Well there you go I never knew that! So it's booked 458s, but does it get changed for something else much? I say that as I'm sure I've caught it before now and it's not been a 458?

Edit: Just noticed the standard only booking on rtt. I must have missed that.! ;)

Does anyone know what's happening with units 1 & 2 now ?
There was an empty emu run from Wim pk to P'boro and back lastnight, which would suggest they still have all their AC gear intact.

I'd be very surprised if they don't keep their AC gear permanently. No point in removing it now.

And alas, tonight, 458524+458505 stepped up off 2S64 1937 Weybridge to London Waterloo by the looks of things. Not sure what happened to the 707s at Waterloo.

The 2058 service today from London Waterloo to Windsor was supposed to be a Class 707 but I heard it broke down so passengers had to move to a different train.

I expect they would have taken the place of ex 2S64's original 5Y42 path to Clapham yard. They were gone by 20 past cos the next Windsor came in on 18.

Who knows, maybe SWR would be interested in covering the WLL, the way Southern keeps cancelling them! ;)

(would take more than 2 units though, maybe many more, depending on the extent of the route)

Have the new MBR been put in at Staines? Last time I used the station I couldn’t see them.

On the SWR status update page there seems to be a rogue "no issues" which doesn't go against a service group (on 707006)
