Oh I agree, looks like something we are going to have to get used to though, but gladly they not turning them out on a daily basis. I do seem to remember not being a big fan of the EWS livery but now its going I know ill miss it!

Thats what I was trying to find the words to write! Without sounding weird here, and stating the obvious, but the new DB Schenker livery just looks too German (Yes I know they are a German company), there is just no difference.

Just don't want our trains to lose their identity. I Will actually miss the EWS livery.

According to Yahoo groups rail gen 67018 will work the DB Schenker Management train this weekend times are as follows:

Saturday, 16th January

York 9:41am; Thirsk 9:56am; Darlington 10:09am; Durham 10:23am; Newcastle
Central 10:39am; Edinburgh Waverley 12:58pm.

Sunday, 17th January

Edinburgh Waverley 1:04pm; Newcastle Central 2:41pm; York 3:57pm - 4:09pm;
Doncaster 4:45pm - 4:57pm; London Kings Cross 6:48pm.

I am so looking forward to not going out in the morning and seeing that. Now thankful for the kids being at their grandparents, a lie in and then a full English.

yeah it doesn't seem right does it. this is great britain not germany and the DB name here is so wrong. i have a modern locomotives book and i remember getting the same copy out of the library in 1987 and saw the class 103.1 co-co high speed german federal railway loco introduced in 1970 with the DB badge on loco front. the way things have gone is unbelievable

I think it looks great. Thew EWS colours were IIRC the Wisconsin Central colours??? (My mind may be playing tricks) but it looked awful especially on the 67 with their different body shape.

Ref the 67's - no RETB needed for Aberdeen/Inverness, and WHL which is RETB needs the special brake blocks anyway. The cl67 don;t work south of Edinburgh when on sleepers and an additional 67 is working the Fife Loco hauled for ScR at the moment - in the same pool as the none RETB sleeper loco's. The 990's are the only ones to go south of the border and IIRC only 2/4 are painted as such, and even then they sometimes end up on Natex East Anglia!

I think what makes it look odd is theres to much red on it, it needs the grey stripe along the bottom of the body as per 66152!

There are only three 90s in FSR colours (019, 021, 024), but they're not really dedicated to the sleeper as such. For one thing, the various sleepers need 4 locos per night. So they end up all over the place, and it's often just EWS liveried ones on the sleepers.

I dont know if its just me or does the 'red' look more pink than red?
Also why did they do 67018 instead of 67029, surely that would of made more sense?

ill repeat myself, the MD Keith Heller is due to leave the company, he is from canada hence the Maple leaf as for why they did it on a 67 cant say but im guessing its because it can be used on their company train and (hopefully) WSMR, FGW, FSR and charter runs. where as a 66 could only see use on the odd charter and freight work

67018 failed at Edinburgh shortly before leaving, and so 67006 which was on thunderbird duties had to attatch to the front of the train and haul it all the way to kx bit ironic really.

and I will, they didnt paint a 66, because a 66 cant be used on the company train or passenger workings, im guessing DB want this as their "show off" loco, or maybe Mr Heller just rates 67`s over 66`s

plus now we have a 59 66 67 37 in red, IMO DB are better off not painting anything so far only the 59 hasnt failed once

I like the DBS livery on the 67. Makes it look really modern and meaty. I think I may take the time and try to catch it at the weekend.
