The person on Twitter duty this morning made it clear to someone that for allegations against staff to be investigated they have to receive the information through the "proper channels" i.e. the contact form on the website. Any allegations on Twitter will not be investigated. I do hope this was the case in the past :|, very poor if it wasn't :(
Although the person that it was said to didn't accept it and kept repeating that he's notified SWT, along with "the ball is now in your court" and that they are not embracing the social media age  (not ask exact words, mainly paraphrased). He even said he's going to put photos of staff that are rude! :/
Mind you, the staff do seem very tolerant about abusive language and don't tell anyone to stop using such language :/ unlike Southern.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
And as a fairly regular user of the Hounslow services a lot of the reports about guards not making announcements seem bogus as our guards do make announcements, although the complaints do come from the main suburban services which I don't normally use (quite a few 455s have very low PA volume for some reason so that doesn't help).
But note: THIS DOES NOT MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE TO USE BAD LANGUAGE AND BE RUDE ONLINE!
(There, got that out :P)

Your making assumptions there. How do you know that's what happened? Bottom line you don't. That's why you have investigations, you work out what happened not judge it on a few angry tweets that is just one single side of the story.

Well assuming the people tweeting don't know each other and thus can't collaborate their stories, then the likelihood of the story being based in the realms of truth is higher. Or should we throw logic out the window? :)

Perhaps you in your infinite wisdom shouldn't assume either. The comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek hence the word seems ;).

Did I say that the passengers were innocent? Nope. But I think you should remain professional irrespective.

I bow to you, the rail staff, as you are holier than thou and can do no wrong. Amen!

I'd like to point out that currently the units are being double crewed as far as guards are concerned. So it may have not been the 'guard' if that makes any sense.

I know when I have travelled on the Waterloo - Reading route which I live near, that there is either a record message been played about what is the next station etc... There has been times, when I have had to ask people in the carriage that I am within to be quiet as the guard is speaking and the volume for his microphone does not seem to be at the same level as that of the record messages that are coming through the speakers loud and clear. This is something that is/has been rectified within the 458/5 trains.

I made no assumptions if you read my post. All I said is don't judge and let the incident be properly investigated.

Maybe stop with your assumptions which I've highlighted. All you've done is make an implied accusation that the staff member wasn't profession which you can not prove either way so your assuming again.

As for throwing logic out the window, well your making logical assumptions and judging the staff on that which isn't including all the facts just one sided opinion gather from Twitter which has been show to be less correct when studied in the past where peoples anger at the situation has boiled over.

From reading the three twitter accounts, if it is to do with the same incident at Whitton station then a thorough investigation needs to take place not only by SWT, but also by Network Rail or whoever is the body for safety on the rail network as the tweets read that passengers safety was put in jeopardy by the guard, but as class 377/5 states we should not jump to conclusions.

So, again, should people not remain professional while working?

Should those same people expect to be treated with respect?
Or is it acceptable to hurl abuse at them?

Should people be treated with respect? Yes. Can people hurl abuse at them? No. Should they remain professional anyway? Yes. Is it always possible to keep your cool? No.

If someone is disrespectful towards you, do you gain anything by being abusive back? I would say no. It makes you no better than them if you do so.

At the end of the day, that was the point I was making originally. While we could probably drag this on, it is rather off topic. If you play your cards right, I'll buy you a new axe to grind for Christmas ;).

So why do you get arsey at comments I make on here?

That's not strictly true, you could end up doing humanity a favour...<D<D<D;)

Anyway, when's the next 458/5 due back?

There was a 458/5 being assembled at Doncaster today; 08 669 was busy scuttling around with single ( painted but wrapped in plastic ) 458/5 carriages and assembling them into a complete rake at the north end of the works.

When I went through on the 09.35 King's Cross - Leeds it was moving the first vehicle past the station area; when I returned south on the 15.15 Leeds - King's cross, there were three vehicles in line with each other right at the very end of the works access road.

Thanks, appreciated :) Looks like I'll not be scooping them in for a long time yet then! Just as well, I can crack on with everything else in London!

Given how refurbishment programmes normally go, if things go smoothly from here I'd hazard a guess at March-May 2015 for them all in service. Based on what's happened so far though, end end of 2015 seems more likely for the full fleet rollout.

A little bird told me that there will be another diagram from next month on the Hounslow/Weybridge stoppers. No idea of anything more specific than that, or any idea if it's new deliveries, or if it's going to be worked by the units SWT have already taken delivery of.

There's a very suitable pair of STP ECS moves from Wimbledon Depot in from next Tuesday, 6th May. Looks like it could well be a 458/5 diagram. You can follow them all through from one to the other to see all the services.

How can one tell they might be 458/5 diagrams?

When the first set went into service someone provided the times, are there any more sets in service and how can one find out which diagrams they are on?

Thanks in advance for any information.

They're short term plan ECS moves from Wimbledon Depot just like the original 458/5 diagrams are. Those two ECS moves are part of the same diagram and the diagram stays as a 10-car all day on the 458/5 routes. Coupled with the poster above suggesting that another 458/5 diagram is imminent, I expect that that's it. There aren't anymore in service yet, but it looks like the diagram from next week will be the next set in use.

Full diagram looks like:

5R05 0545 Wimbledon Park Depot-Waterloo 0607
2R05 0615 Waterloo-Waterloo 0741 via Twickenham & Brentford
2S15 0752 Waterloo-Weybridge 0908
2S24 0933 Weybridge-Waterloo 1056
2V25 1107 Waterloo-Waterloo 1232 via Brentford & Twickenham
2R31 1245 Waterloo-Waterloo 1411 via Twickenham & Brentford
2S41 1422 Waterloo-Weybridge 1537
2S50 1603 Weybridge-Waterloo 1726
2V51 1737 Waterloo-Waterloo 1902 via Brentford & Twickenham
2R57 1915 Waterloo-Waterloo 2041 via Twickenham & Brentford
2V65 2107 Waterloo-Waterloo 2232 via Brentford & Twickenham
5Y93 2242 Waterloo-Wimbledon Park Depot 2321

So that'll be all four units that SWT currently has into service. The large number of short platforms on the Hounslow loop and Chertsey line will really test the ASDO.

Looking at the moves into/out of P16, does that mean that the normal WTT path here: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W35563/2014/05/07/advanced

...therefore won't run on the day? The implication being that the normal ECS from Clapham Yard will be cancelled nearer the time but only if the STP path runs as planned?

There appears to be a swap of paths as there is a corresponding STP path from Clapham Yard used for the units for the 0616 Chessington South service which the path from Wimbledon Park is usually used for.

That's the ECS move for the service 30 minutes later, the 0645 Hounslow Loop train. This is the booked ECS move for what appears to be the 458/5s, and it is cancelled:

Ah thanks - that's made me look further...

What's confused me is that I just looked for P16 moves in the overall list; and they've got 5R05 arriving in P16 at 0607, and then 2R05 is shown leaving from P15 at 0615 - which is obviously not going to happen on the day...

someone else may have this question earlier in this thread but will 458/5's run the rugby specials when all of them are in service or will they stick with 455's and 456's added to make them 10 cars long.

It all depends what is available.
