The "plans" are for South WCML, South ECML, GEML to all be (the perpetually stalled) IEP using shorter interurban units (double up in peak).

Yes, that's why I was thinking 444s (or possibly an end-doored Electrostar variant) would be ideal - nothing too complicated, a known quantity, quick to build and compatible with many of the modern new units. I'll be amazed if IEP ever climbs out of stall and goes ahead in its current form.

I'll give you a crazy idea for the Brighton and Gatwick Express services, which I'm sure won't go down very well! [Times are from Victoria.]

xx00 Gatwick Airport (Clapham Junction, East Croydon)
xx10 Brighton (Gatwick Airport)
xx20 Gatwick Airport
xx30 Brighton (Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport)
xx40 Gatwick Airport
xx50 Brighton (Gatwick Airport)

Fair enough, if a bit tight on paths? Here's why no-one will like it. My plan for stock transfers is that we bring in...

180s.
Good idea ivo but who is going to pay for the extra drivers.

Why not just stick a panto on the roof of the 460s and move them around then? they are just as easy to do as all the wiring is in!

Only problem with that is Alstom forgot to leave Panto wells on the roofs of 460s.
