Why ever not 90019? It's out of 100% curiosity and I can't think of any reasons why?
They would probably have to use shortened sets on the preserved railways. Maybe a Grand Central style 2+5 would be the longest, bearing in mind that the mk3s are considerably longer than the preservation standard mk1s. They would all have to be fitted with buffers as well because it is unlikely that a preserved railway would have a spair thunderbird or coupler transformer.
Actually, that's a good point: the GC HSTs are already in 2+5, they've got buffers, and they're still running with Valentas (and low-density, window-aligned IC70 seating). So they'd be good preservation candidates I guess...?
The only difference between the Loco hauled and the HST version is the Power.
