They're limited to 140 mph on CTRL Track (HS1) and 125 mph on standard 'conventional' tracks

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure 3rd rail lines cannot handle 125mph trains, and the limit there is 100mph.

Speeds on HS1 are in proper measurements. They are limited to 225kmh (~140mph) on CTRL and 100mph on Network Rail lines.
The attached image is the sticker from a 395's cab.
That should be that cleared up once and for all then!
Although are they timetabled for 125mph or 140mph?![]()
If they were required to work on AC lines, unless there are other factors involved, I would imagine that they would be able to run at 125mph (on the ECML for example).
No it was due to pantograph issues.
And it was eventually resolved.
Only south of Grantham though wasn't it?
Not necessarily. The NoL 373s were limited to 110mph on the ECML due to power supply limits.

Yeah the rather fragile OLE on those stretches.
