Nope. Monday was a hope. Now later in the week subject to alteration at short notice of course.

As for more testing required, can tell you that is false. Units are ready, its just a minor thing that's holding back starting. But I will say earlier quotes of units coming on quickly should prove to be very correct.

What makes me laugh is how they send them out when the drivers haven't all been trained up lol.
Not that we got any proper training, just a small brief.
Be interesting the first few weeks when it turns up for someone who hasn't signed for it lol

Very similar to 377s, so I believe with a few mods...

Far more drivers sign them than when the 377s came in. There are some important differences between a 387 and a 377 tho, least not what happens when you cope the two up!

Just the usual 319 path. Wolverton are doing the C6 + enhancements work there.

Staff brief arrived today. Basically confirms that the 387s replace the 319s like for like. But the brief also included some diagram info.

When the London Bridge block starts on the 20th, three 8 cars will be in service (initial diagrams for one 8 car to start this week subject to last minute changes). No further diagrams will be added during the blockage but once it 'lifts' in January another two 8 cars will be in service.

The commissioning process is currently running ahead so the full fleet could be before the May deadline.

Its true. From January some Brighton to London Bridge services will be Southern crew and stock. Total of 8 'diagrams' (4x 8 cars).

Where are Southern getting the stock from? They state they have no spare stock whenever discussing lengthening trains

Most likely the off peak, when sidings are full of spare stock.

The discussion was over the Southern crews manning the Thameslink London Bridge services which are off peak only so there's no issue of borrowing units. Besides which the ' ' around diagrams mean they aren't proper diagrams but 8 units used during the day, but not all day and not used a lot.

EDIT: 387 debut expected next week now.

Saw a pair of them go through Horley (I work overlooking the line). I suspect within a week of entering service they will be a filthy grey black colour. The government have chosen possibly the worst livery they could.

I doubt the white and green (doors) livery that the 387s are govts decision this time.

Trains south of london seem to be alot cleaner than those on the north side, but thameslink being what it is who knows what we are going to get!

Being based at Brighton Lovers Walk, you'd think they would stay quite clean.

One advantage of 3rd raill is that it's easier to give the trains a dcent wash. The roofs of most trains exclusively on 3rd rail are white whereas many of the ac units have dark grey or blue ones. Just look how clean the empty pantograph wells are on the 444s or the SE 375s.

The trains also have a carriage wash speed set facility to ensure that they maximise the washer plants ability to keep the paintwork looking good.

I have actually seen an improvement in cleanliness since Thameslink took over!
