It seems that 2T30 has been terminated at Haywards Heath due to " a problem with the overhead line power collection equipment (M1)"; although appears to be continuing now to Bedford. Not sure what that implies for the rest of the day, but combined with the disruption at CTK, I don't have my hopes high being able to try it this evening as scheduled.

Saw the 387 pair in the sidings just south of Gatwick Airport, as I passed there on the bus about 10 minutes ago.

Three bridges didn't know what was happening so I sat on the loop outside gatwick for nearly an hour. Units are now in cricklewood and noone knows what's happening with them next.

Any train cancelled due to delays caused by a failed train will show as 'cancelled due to a problem with the train' or similar in RTT though - so you can only really guess which unit is at fault by finding the train furthest along the line when the issues occurred. Would I be right in guessing the train in question here was 2V20?

And it turns out my lack of faith was misguided given the explanation from the actual driver.

I really didn't expect it to make it all the way to Bedford. Unless it carried on to go back to Derby that is, possibly on the back of a low loader.

Were you still on as 5T30 went through London Bridge around 1345 then? I was going to give a little wave but the units on Pfm 6 got in the way.

The problem, which many have made, is the reason for the cancellation of 2T30 was caused by overhead wire problems at City Thameslink. It does not mean that the train suffered that problem.

Best example of this is when a train hits a person and multiple services say cancelled due to person hit by a train. Doesn't mean there were multiple incidents (although I've had that on really really bad shift) but the actual reason is due to person hit by a train. This is no difference.

Too much jumping to conclusions.

That's what I meant, the first comment made it appear I had been cancelled for that but i dont have any interest in the rtt. Did seem a little premature to terminate me at Haywards heath especially as one overtook about 5 minutes later lol

Regardless of the events earlier, 387105 and 387106 are working 2T73 the 2122 Bedford to Brighton this evening so will be back in Brighton tonight.

I did wonder why they lost time between St Albans and West Hampstead Thameslink where I was waiting for them.

Not so keen on the 6 digit carriage numbers from an 'it's new' position but that has been well trailed.

Different seating moquette in the so-called 1st class area (same type of seating as Standard)........ then again Thameslink are only using the small area behind the drivers cab and the first set of doors as 1st class.

Ride does seem better than 377s...maybe because of their 110mph capability.

As for ride, at 100mph I found it the same as the 377s were when they were new.

The brakes however definitely work well. Tootling along at 100, the driver left the braking for St. Albans until just about the last minute, and it stopped on a sixpence.

Being cynical and I am sorry but as they're brand new I would expect them to do that anyway

It's like a cycle with worn brakes vs a cycle with brand new brakes, the one with brand new brakes will always stop a lot better then the one with worn brakes.

Having said that, it also depends on the driver too depending on their experience driving as not every driver has the same experience, now with all that said I'm glad the 387s are finally out on the TL. I just hope they see some weekend workings too
