3x 321s went from Hornsey to one of the sidings at Peterborough earlier today, courtesy of GBRF (according to Tornado!). They were under their own power though so not sure what they're going for.

Berth out of th way in accordance with GTR franchise agreement which stated trains are supposed to be around for a month after being cascaded off.

387108/113 are currently working thier way to Hornsey. 387102/123 will follow on tomorrow leaving just 9 on Thameslink.

So only 9 of 29 units remain with thameslink?

Do they go to the gn side via the canal tunnels or a different way?mpresume the latter

Are both 317s and 321s going to greater anglia?

From the looks of it they go via Brixton, North Pole thrn Camden Road.

Currently 402, 403, 409, 410, 418 and 418 have been stopped and being debranded ready for transfer to GA.

So from that it looks like AGA won't have more 321s until the new year. In response to another question, yes some of the 317s are coming across too but I can't remember the exact number.

You'd better not be implying something about the Peterborough folk...

Looks more like a dig at GTR to me :-P

As far as I know, Greater Anglia are getting 6 321s and all 12 317s.

You said never. Clearly that is wrong by example. Your statement was all encompassing and incorrect.

All the same bodyshell tho (379 are different).

I was under the impression that 379s have the same bodyshell as 387s and late model 377s. What is different about them?

The 17:23 King Cross to Royston was formed of 4 coach 321 last night.
I had seen the message online regarding the short formation so caught the 17:13 Peterborough (8 car 317 - plenty of seats available) and changed onto the 17:23 at Stevenage. (still had to stand to Letchworth but at least there was room to get on once the Stevenage passengers had got off!) There was no obvious message on the boards at kings cross warning of the short formation.
when I twas at Stevenage I saw that the 17:53 kings cross to royston had also been cancelled. RTT said this was due to a planning error. GTR app said lack of train crew. so in a 30 minute period last night (17:23 to 17:53 from Kings cross) the Royston branch was missing 12 carriages from the normal service.

07:32 Royston to Kings Cross yesterday morning was also short formed - 4 coach 365 that left people behind at Letchworth so not sure how the Welwyn North folk fared.

Take the 0720 Letchworth- KX. Not got a clue what the rest of the diagram is but it would be good if it could be swapped the an AC only unit. Off topic I know but what is happening to the 313s? Leaf fall issues?
yes, please can we have this as an 8 coach train again - particularly something were the heating works! Almost froze on the 313 on Tuesday as there was no heating in the coach I was in. as I get on when it has come out of the siding at Letchworth there isn't enough body heat inside to warm the train until Hatfield which time we are about to get off.
This train used to be 313s then went through being served by 317s, then 321s, 365s and a period when something random would turn up. at the moment, short formed means 3 coaches!

I think the morning peak services that calla t the villages are still using 317s so these haven't changed over to 387 s as yet?

387s aren't cleared for Canal Tunnels so go the long way around via North London Line.

The 379, 5 car 377 and 387 all share the same bodyshell. However the 387 software/cables are different making them not backwards compatible bar rescue situations/ECS.

In answer to the Welwyn - London services.

0634 wgc - kx (2x 313)
0705 wgc - kx and 0812 wgc - kx 2 x 317 (was 321s)
0720 letchworth - kx. (2x 313)
0842 and 0942 wgc - kx (2x 317)

The other way
1658 kx- wgc. 1x 317
1728 kx - wgc 1x 365
1758 kx - wgc ? (Was 2x 321)
1828 kx - wgc 2x 313 (diagrammed into Moorgate on previous working)
1858 kx - wgc ???

Was on 1722 London - Cambridge yesterday now it is a 387. Lots standing where everyone used to get a seat although it may be because of other disruptions. Lots of "first class" passengers commenting about how they wouldn't pay the difference.

The 1542 Kings Cross to Welwyn GC is a 4 car 365.

I've tried to put together some of the afternoon workings from Real Time Trains:

The 1658 (2V86) returns empty from Welwyn Garden City to KGX (as 3Y32) and forms the front half of my regular 2C32 1822 KGX - Cambridge (the rear 317 for 2C32 is off 1R55 1712 Royston - London Kings Cross).

It appears that the 1728 (2V88) goes back to King's Cross empty (as 3Y98) to form part of 1R98 1853 KGX - Royston (with the 365(s) off 1T73 1636 Kings Lynn - London Kings Cross).

The 1758 (2V90) doesn't appear to be an intensely utilised set. It just does ECS Welwyn Garden City Carriage Sidings to KGX (3Y90), then the 1758 and then 5E31 back to Hornsea Depot. I haven't seen the ECS this week - it normally passes 2C32 around Hatfield, so can't say what it has been in the last few days.

The 1828 (2V92) is formed 2Y93 1748 Welwyn Garden City - KGX, formed in turn off 2V14 1653 Moorgate - Welwyn Garden City.

In turn, the 1858 (2V94) is 2 x 313 formed off 2Y98 18:18 Welwyn Garden City - KGX, which is in turn also formed off a Moorgate working - 2V20 1723 Moorgate - Welwyn Garden City. 2Y98 is interesting as despite being 313s and therefore limited to 75 mph, it is routed via the Down Fast line from Potters Bar.

On 1722 kx - Cambridge. Not as many standing but people would love to know where to stand to avoid first class. At the front tonight. I hope GTR sort this inconsistency and poor placement.

Announcements are on about east coast, cross country, grand central and first great western rather than coach numbers on a splittjng train. East coast - cross country continue to Cambridge. Grand central - first great western terminate at Royston. Someone having a laugh!

Another pair, 321418 and 321401 are at King's Cross platform 10 ready for 1P70, the 1843 Peterborough. This has been 317s mostly of late, but was previously solid 365s!

I really don't get why they didn't just stick with the 365 1st class arrangement...

From doesn't mean by. It means the start of introducing the 72 extra carriages.

You're barking up the wrong tree again.

I was replying in agreement with the post about the new year, in case someone had mistakenly thought they might be in service in November or December. I emphasised the answer about the new year by adding a supporting quote that says they are intended to be in service FROM January.

Not the wrong tree but your post read differently from your intent. But hey if you want to attack me when what I said is correct, go ahead. Just don't expect me to care about your pettiness.

Thank you to swt_passenger for clarifying some misinformation in my head. I completely understood your response and didn't read it in any other way than "From January" and that there's no delay in the plan, at present.

Thank you again. We're all here to educate, inform and learn from each other.

The 0842 ex Welwyn Garden City (2Y87) still hanging on this morning with 2 x 321. Pity those trying to get on the 08:12 (2Y85), this also used to be solid dusty bins, but has recently been 2 x 317, but today it was short formed - just a single 317!

I believe the remaining 2x321 diagram remains so for the remainder of the summer timetable. This does two morning peak trips, one from Royston to London and one from Welwyn to London, and an evening peak trip from London to Welwyn.

There are also three other diagrams where 321s have been regularly covering. Two of these are 2x365 diagrams, on which 321s have regularly appeared all through this current timetable, meanwhile the other is one of the 2x387 diagrams. How long this will last I don't know.

From previous experience these short periods where there's spare capacity is an ideal time to get some of the units that are staying in for check-ups on minor faults and a deep clean. If that's the case then 321s may pop-up anywhere in the short term.
