Cheers, I assume 012 might be the next one for the chop?
319012 appears to be out and about for now. Only 219 & 433 haven't been reported as seen in the last couple of weeks (on Trainlogger at least)

219 was out with 217 and 012 on the 0831 London Euston-Tring on 31st October 2022, whether or not all 3 of them are still in active use I don't know. I'm not a regular traveller in that part of the world. Quite, I was only there that morning to make a final journey on 319s in that area!

I heard they are being stood down with the December timetable change, can anyone confirm?
It will depend on whether the 730s are ready to take their place. There doesn't appear to be a recent progress update on that. (The idea being that the 730/0s which are eventually intended for the Cross City line will be used first to eliminate the 319s.)

Probably not a great question but are all the 350s fully diagrammed ? I am under the impression that LNR have permanently withdrawn some services out of EUS si theoretically there should be spare 350s.

While that is true they are also running through trains to Birmingham and Crewe with pairs of 350s where a single 350 would have been used in the past.

Thanks. That explains it well.
I struggle to understand why WMR has lost its 730/0s to LNR when the intention was for 730/0s to cascade the 323s to Northern to retire erm 319s.
I can only assume the Northern 319s are less of a basket case than LNRs

From Dec the timetable is fully recast anyway. Hard to tell if it requires more or fewer units. There are almost no 4 car workings on the south WCML so I think there is a possibility it actually needs more. (Almost no 12s either, though there weren't many before). Instead of peak 12 car workings they seem to have mostly gone for 8 car peak extras. I suspect they may end up adding a couple, though, I can see some potential problem trains there, they may well be waiting to see how people end up distributing themselves between them, which is a bit unpredictable as pretty much everything has changed.

The LNR 319s are on their last legs, whilst the 323s have recently been refurbished for WMR - can imagine it prepares crew as well for when the 730/1s (presuming the /2s are now no longer being built/classed) arrive on the West Coast next year.

Speaking of 319s going for the chop, I wonder what may come of 319377 + heavily stripped 010 & 011 At Eastleigh Works. ROG's 'ORION' seems to have gone very very quiet of late, while both ex Thameslink units seem to have been pushed out to the back of the works.

Scrap. Northern won't want them and there isn't any demand for further 769s.
You say Northern won’t want them, but if it wants to commence 6 car 323 service on some lines and increased frequencies on others before the arrival of the rest of the 323 fleet from WMR, it may not have enough EMUs at present.

There appear to be suggestions that it wouldn't have funding for such additional capacity.

That doesn’t surprise me, despite the overcrowding I’ve been subjected to on 2 car Sprinters. I’ve never seen the Chat Moss stopper not full and standing either.

God forbid extra funding coming from increased passenger numbers!

Interesting. Not seen a hint of 730/2 not being built, anywhere.
Personally, could never see how LNR and WMR are going to migrate from a 350 operation on the WCML into a 4 car 350 and 5 car 730/1 and 730/2 operation. As they seem unable to allocate the 350/2 to their own diagrams, i can only assume they are going on a learning curve to keep 350 away from 730.

So if the 730/2 order is cancelled, are there approximately enough class 350/2 vehicles to replace them ? Obviously realise 350 vehicles are 20m per car and 730 are probably 5x23m.

This is just an assumption as the order for the 5 car units has been reduced to 36 and the interiors will now all be 2+2 - don’t really see the need to make two different subclasses across the LNR fleet given they’re all exactly the same now.

Just read the November MR and it is explained there. As mentioned upthread it appears 730/2 classification disappears while 3 car 730/0 order increases from 36 to 48 units. 9 class 730 vehicles overall less with five car units now confirmed at 45x5 cars.

The 5 car units are now 36, not 45 anymore.

319 requirement in Dec 22 timetable is for four x eight car formations to run Mon-Fri, so eight units from a pool of nine.

As 730/0's come on stream the 319's will be stood down circuit by circuit however this will not be until February/March at the earliest.

That's my reckoning of Dec diagrams at the start?
Sorry for the spelling mistake too!

Thanks, I've updated the list on Page 1.
I've also just seen pictures on another group of a Thameslink liveried 319 being taken away by road for disposal from Northampton Kings Heath depot. Any idea which unit it was?
it was 319005, saw it as i was sat on 4H19 waiting to leave :)

So is this a general idea that the 319s are going after the December TT change?

So they are staying after the December TT change?

They are staying..... the question is will they still be around for the next (May 23) timetable change? The (current) plan is to phase them out over the course of this timetable.
