A pictures emerged on Facebook of a LNWR 319 being scrapped at Newport. Didn’t know this process has already begun. But premature I think as the 730s aren’t even in service yet

LNR reduced their fleet of units as the timetable had been reduced (no Watford shuttles for example) therefore there was no need for some of the units and they went off-lease.

Nothing to do with 730's.

All the remaining 319's are due to go off lease by January 2023.

Do we know how many LNWR 319s are left?

So most likely the ones from Burton Wetmore have gone by road to Newport Simms Docks For scrap after some useful components have been salvaged there first for spares then.

Passed 2 cars of an LM liveried unit (presumably one of the /2s) on lowloaders on the M42 earlier, heading SW in convoy.

Likeliest guess is that they're Newport-bound.
The number on the DTSO had been covered up/chopped out so I couldn't ID it.

One of the 319s From Burton Wetmore.
Some components have been removed from the original Lm/LNWR 319 from there. Then are slowly coach by coach are going for scrap to Newport Simms from there as well by road.

My records (probably out of date) have 319013, 319216, 319218 and 319460 at Burton on Trent.

Is it possible to ascertain which vehicles have gone to Newport for scrap?

TIA

Apologies for what appears to be a long list, but these are the ones I had noted before March 2020. Also, I am unsure if the very first post of this thread is kept updated or not as this thread was started a long time ago.

Of the LNWR fleet, 319218 has been withdrawn and scrapped, 319460 has been withdrawn and is currently stored at Nemesis Rail Burton, and 319441 has been sold to ROG and is stored at Castle Donington.
319005, 319012 & 319219 are still active although I'm unsure if they're actually being used at the moment

Castle Donington EMDC, near Derby. I believe 768002 is also stored there along with some ROG Mk3s

Is 319429 still in service?
It supposedly is, however that doesn't mean to say its actually out working any services

769431 has not been out since March 2022. It failed at Wigan I think and has never been seen or heard of since!

Its my mates last one so we keep tracks on that one.

Many thanks for that.

Did this one ever go to Wales as it was one of the 319s that was to be converted to a 769?
No this is one of the 319's earmarked for Orion Logistics

I have also updated the list on Page 1 following recent developments of LNWR 319's being scrapped.
