319373 is currently en route to Castle Donington from Eastleigh behind 37884. Is this for conversion to a 769?

319373 seems to have gone on to Birch Coppice GBRF today so, as mentioned above, it's probably remaining as a 319 (at least for now)

319373 is doing some more demonstration runs, which is what these recent moves have been about. This one was always staying as a 319. ROG's first Flex is already at Eastleigh, 319010, just not renumbered yet.

Monday 29th March now for class 350's on the Abbey all being well. Work being undertaken this weekend to erect stop boards on platforms. (Normal timetable to be provisionally introduced on 28th March)

All LNW Class 319's are tentatively slated to go off lease in November 2021, current timetable sees 1x8 car set make a couple of trips per day, the rest are stood down, one unit at Camden, eight at Bletchley and four at Kings Heath.

Juat had a thought, could 319008 (769008) be preserved once it finishes service as it was one of the 2 319s that carried the first passengers through the channel tunnel? The other being 009 which is for ROG so that's a definite no on that one.

It'd be a shame to scrap 008 because it is of some importance unlike the other 319s.

If somebody stumps up the money, sure. I imagine the 769s will be more desirable in preservation circles, but I don't know how complex DEMU maintenance is.

Maybe 769s could be more desirable. I've noticed 769008 no longer has it's nameplate :( Wonder why they removed it?

If we want to know what DEMU maintenance is like, I'm sure someone on here who works at Central Rivers depot could give us an insight.

Is this still the case that 319s run on the Abbey until 29th March?

There is a limited train service in place from Monday 8th March, so on the 27th or 28th I might go for a trip on them for one last time if they still run on the line that is.

I know it is unlikely, although possible, did all four vehicles of 319451 go to the same scrapyard ? Probably yes if it was hauled to Sims at Newport docks, but if all four vehicles were loaded onto low loaders, there is tiny possbility one went to a different location, for whatever reason.

If they had more than one site, sending different cars to different sites may have been a business decision, possibly even with a commercial value from the quick clearance if space is freed up for something else that would not otherwise be available.

It is surprising tho, given how quick a vehicle can be disposed by the smasher at Newport compared to the far slower process using gas axes elsewhere. Having said that as you point out the commercial need in a given area may well make the difference
