More dirt means better sound proofing!
The 170s seem to do OK and it will keep peoples feet from freezing to the floor in the winter which is what happens with the 150s

172345 was out on the special "staff tasters" today. Sounds more akin to a class 375 than a 170
Does anyone know if the 0750 High Wycombe - Marylebone, 1809 Marylebone - Bicester North and 1925 Bicester North - Marylebone are still diagrammed for 172s ?
I think they are now working the Gerrards cross - London Marylebone stopper services now or when the new timetable comes into affect
Arrived on time at 1008 at Smethwick Galton Bridge, managed to catch up with it at Worcester Shrub Hill
Seen at Tyseley yesterday 31/08 lunchtime wasSo back to the main point of this thread, what's at TYS and what's still at Litchurch Lane and in what state of completion guys?
Any idea which services the 172 will be running on on Monday 5th?
Nothing is timed as a 172, they sit in 165 timings for the moment until they have bedded in enough to know what they are cabable of.
By a process of deduction, probably on any service between Marylebone and High Wycombe or Gerrards Cross.
I think someone has previously pointed out that there will not be any specific diagrams timed for 172s so they will presumably turn up almost anywhere a 165 can on the south of the route, (but not on the Met). AIUI they are not currently cleared beyond Banbury.
I meant the London Midland 172s.
Anybody have any idea which service(s) the London Midland 172 will be doing on Monday?

I am probably categorically wrong, but I thought that most, if not all, of the Snow Hill line diagrams involved running over both the Dorridge and Stratford lines at some point during their diagram, so I'm interested to see which workings the 172s will be put on to keep them off the Dorridge line initially if that proves to be the case.So there'll be none on the Dorridge route. What cheek! I think one on each route would've been fair.
From the LM 150 re-allocations thread, there are now reported times for the first two 172 diagrams on Monday:I meant the London Midland 172s.

172's entry service on 5/09/11 with first working to go over 06.46 from Whitlocks End into Birmingham and 06.41 from Birmingham Snow Hill to Sratford upon Avon.
That's one of my trains home from school!!! Come on!The Two Class 172 diagrams for next week on the Snow Hill Lines are;
Worcester Foregate Street Arr 15.40
Dep 16.07
These from Monday are perminant 172 diagrams with next 2 diagrams being added in a Fortnight I believe.
