One wonders who will win the race to open first, Crossrail, or Barking Riverside (which I believe started construction after Crossrail was meant to have been finished).Which date are you looking at, and in which journey planner? National Rail Enquiries shows services on that route for 16th May.
For all dates in May RTT seems to have a fully VAR timetable showing, but it’s looking very like a normal service.
Try any weekday between 16th May-3rd June. Looks as it the timetable is being rolled forward one week at a time - presumably until the Barking Riverside opening data has been confirmed.I am seeing no LTP entries for the existing route from May onwards. A random search of RTT for Blackhorse Road for 8 June shows no trains.

Looks like there is a step back, with most trains having a ~17 minute turnaround. The driver will have to be quick at Riverside, only 1 min turnaround?
Ah youre right..that makes more senseLooks like there is a step back, with most trains having a ~17 minute turnaround.
It's rather inefficient, considering it's an end to end journey of just 38 minutes, with another long-ish turnaround of 12 minutes at the Gospel Oak end. But I suppose at least it should make for a reliable service.
Yes, a significant disadvantage of the new extension is that you suddenly "gain" a conflict with all the freight and C2C services towards Ripple Lane and Dagenham. With a 15 minute service the alternative is a 7 minute turnround both ends, and that is only if optimal paths through Barking can be found that don’t conflict with c2c, and don’t foul freight paths between Barking and Stratford, which are fairly fixed across Forest Gate Jn.
Isn’t the major grade separated junction near Renwick Rd aimed at reducing that?Yes, a significant disadvantage of the new extension is that you suddenly "gain" a conflict with all the freight and C2C services towards Ripple Lane and Dagenham.
it'll reduce it, but won't remove the conflict with trains running in the same directionIsn’t the major grade separated junction near Renwick Rd aimed at reducing that?
Correct - it's the only way for trains to get from the GOBLIN to/from Ripple Lane. Will Goblin trains once the extension starts run over the existing flyover used by c2c services when diverted to/from Liverpool Street and serve platforms 7 and 8 at Barking?
So GOBLIN won't be on p1 any more at Barking? What will?
I wonder if they’ll still open doors on both sides of the LU services on P2, as wasn’t that mainly aimed at GOB interchanging? Or am I out of date on that procedure?
(Using only one side would presumably reduce PTI risks from TfL’s point of view?)
What I meant was with no trains using P1 the existing need for opening both doors isn’t there?I don't think you can get to Riverside from P1 or P2, so that seems unlikely.

Oh right, I wasn’t aware of that palaver…However the P1/2 island is the only one with a lift so I think they will still open doors both sides. If the district only used P3, then any passengers needing step free access would have to walk the length of P3, then down the ramp, across the subway, then back up the ramp and walk the length of P1 to get to the lift.
