I only had it once. Details somewhere upthread...Random fact: 47555 was my 117th highest mileage 47![]()

Ridiculous at first glance, but I once saw one on an Edinburgh-Dundee footex (in fact that would have been around the same time), so I suppose the traction knowledge was there! Here's 45050 at Rosyth Halt!
Now they would have been a nice score. I had them on railtours but not in general service.Just had a quick squizz at the old moves and gen book from May 1984, and Carstairs portions featured the following locos that month....
26002/007 (failure of 47/7
The folk baling off don't look like members of the Peak Army to me!Here's 45050 at Rosyth Halt!
Definitely the best time of day to be walking round the streets of Springburn, most of the neds haven't woken up by then.depart 07:13 Haulage Cl 303 EMU

But more than half the challenge would have gone - and with it the triumph when things actually came good!Me too chap. Just think if we had had realtime trains with us in the 1970s. We could have halved the wasted milage.
Or, when they put a 47/3 on the 07/xx from Edinburgh in January, that the passengers would have time to thaw out between Carstairs and wherever they were getting off so would forget the cold start!I reckon they thought that on the short hop from Carstairs to Edinburgh, there wasn't enought time for the train to cool down or heat up after the Edinburgh portion had been detached.
The Cleveland Executive. Carried on to King's Cross.an HST from Ncl to Midd sounds unlikely, but thats what Ive recorded
I remember a shunter at Edinburgh starting to connect up the steam pipes from 47215 to the portion for the overnight FO Paignton train once, before the driver helpfully pointed out the large "NB" painted above the locomotive number.Or, when they put a 47/3 on the 07/xx from Edinburgh in January, that the passengers would have time to thaw out between Carstairs and wherever they were getting off so would forget the cold start!
Stopped at Sunderland, Hartlepool (I think), Stockton and Eaglescliffe as well. The Cleveland Executive. Carried on to King's Cross.
And how much better use of the lunchtime pub opening hours could have been madeMe too chap. Just think if we had had realtime trains with us in the 1970s. We could have halved the wasted milage.
Must have been a Saltley driver available!33046 going to Leeds and back was one of the most ridiculous pieces of diagramming of the 1980s.
That’s not diagramming. That’s allocating. Apologies for the pedantry.33046 going to Leeds and back was one of the most ridiculous pieces of diagramming of the 1980s.
Was a Saltley driver involved in D1013’s run to Leeds, on a Swansea-Leeds cross country train in January 1077? From memory the Gloucester driver carried on from Birmingham, but he required a conductor in the cab.Must have been a Saltley driver available!![]()
If a Gloucester driver was on for traction knowledge, it would be the booked driver for route knowledge, not necessarily Saltley. Was a Saltley driver involved in D1013’s run to Leeds, on a Swansea-Leeds cross country train in January 1077?
