Being a wee bit more pedantic, it’s a Class D11/1

It was on loan at the time from the National Collection. IIRC it only ever ran in preservation on the GCR, then when out of ticket returned to the NRM for static display.

Definitely! Used to live there as a student in the mid-00s and hadn't forgotten much if any of my way around the city. Obviously some things had developed and some new buildings had gone up etc.

I don't know however we all got photographed in front of it upon arrival so the number could just be visible!

Travelled behind 55016 the previous day between Peterborough and Grantham, on the 16:03 Kings Cross-York. Weather also bitterly cold with snow and ice everywhere. Posted details a year ago, so won’t repeat.

So yesterday I had to go to Manchester for work. With the change in timetable, more Cats are due to be working across the Pennines, but with TPE there is as much chance of a cancellation as the train turning up. Thanks to the gen over on the TPE 68 thread, I knew that 68025 or 68030 ought to be on my train - both required. So I crossed my fingers and set the alarm for 06:00...

The day worked out as follows:

After work, I decided to take my chances on Northern to get home...
