@Thefab444 I dont know where you were in the train but I got the group that 960012 was in charge of 9 leading coach on the way down to Weymouth and again in the same coach on the way back. (my Lordzz).
I was on board for the first run down to Weymouth.

This young kiddie decided the excitement was all too much for him of seeing a 444 (why I dont know). He was literally dancing on the platform as the 444 came to a halt from Waterloo on Platform 1 where it terminated.... he could not hide his excitemnt, no Ipod or other generic MP3 device was seen on him, god knows what the driver thought but hey the kid didnt seem to care.
His name's Nathan.

Nice to see so many bashers and photters out in this miserable
weather. Poole wasnt so much crowded but it made a change to see
Railway enthusiasts there instead of chavs and Asbo qualifiers for a
Saturday afternoon.

I saw, shot and video'd the following:-*

2410 13:14 to Brokenhurst
2407 13:35 to Weymouth.
450100 13:58 to Wareham
2405 12:05 from Waterloo to Poole (arr 14:19)
2412 13:05 from Waterloo to Poole (arr 15:30

*Note all times at Poole.

Also Speno RailGrinder was noted heading East through Wareham at 06:01
this morning apparently. ta RS

Off down to Poole again to night to catch the last 2 (in theory)
gig and a half worth of pics this afternoon taken not that many
tonight hopefully.

Also Big up and Flail goes to 960012 who was giving it the almighty on 2407 both to weymouth and from Weymouth.

Cheers

Hentis

PS Pics on the site soon.

Was a My lordzzzzz day!!!

Can you drop the pics over to me in an email????

We had a right laugh, were about to hit the beds and sleep, only got Jim Gizmogle and an off forum frined here lol for the night!

Mine... err....

Numerous journeys on the direct but the most memorable was the one via Epsom... following a multiple catastrophic failure a few years back...

I was in... erm... the TSWL of 2407, blue jacket looking backwards... I think I probably saw you; were you at the end of Poole Platform 1?

Erm, 2006 - numerous stuff on the main line, only notable working was on one going via Staines because Surbiton was shut. Last Pig of the Year was 2408 on the 30th.

Of course 2007, I was on a few Pigs, 2411, 2407 & 2417 come to mind, 2411 from Havant - Guildford, 2407 from Brockenhurst - Weymouth and back to Bournemouth and finally 2417 from Bournemouth - Brockenhurst.

I think I've been on all the Pigs; but that title was only achieved in 2006, because 2424 kept eluding me.

Favourite Pig? Has to be 2416... despite it being a poor unit the name is good. As for good units, 2408 is good now it's been refurbished.

Monday's 442

Code:
Due to only 18 458s being available for Monday AM service, if all
goes to plan the following 3 diagrams will be covered by 442s vice
444s.

2405, 2410, 2412, 2413, 2419 and 2424 are the six units earmarked to
be kept on till the end of franchise, so presumably these services
will be covered from units from this pool.

None out today unfortunately... 159103 was though!

John

PS I notice the 444s have started using a woman announcer... the "Bladform Foor for the South West Chains service to Bwanmuth" woman. Sounds really poor, put Phil back! I think 455s use the woman as well.

Finally done that now then? They were talking about it in March as apparently female voices get better feedback and passenger response.

First time I've heard her on the 444s, but a while ago I heard 'her' on a refurbished 455.

As for 450s, the last one I went on had broken PIS - just kept displaying "This train is for Portsmouth Harbour" and the guard was doing the PA "This train is for Fraaaaaattun, and the next station will be Haaaa-vantt, passengers for Ports Southsea and Portsmouth & Harbour should change at Frarttun for a replacement bus service" and the one before than was good ol' Phil.

The woman in question

It is quite funny when she says "Delayed by 14 minutes, due to, atemporaryfaultwiththesignallingequipment, at, WAKEFIELD WESTGATE" though. :)

Anyway back to the Pigs, any further news on any tours on Saturday, because there's a pair of Tractors in London, aim to get them and any Pigging that might happen?

About this photo; you might not be able to see it, but 444045 has a cracked/broken window in First Class on the right hand side from this shot - I remember seeing it as I passed in 2407 as portrayed in that shot.

444045 overall looking quite dirty and ratty with the broken window... is that preventing a trip to the washer?

thefab444, there are two pairs of Tractors in London, 2 working off Hither Green and 2 working off Ilford on the Mentor. Today there were 2 more in the area - 37194 on a Hither Green - Nottingham track machine drag and 37218 (with a 20) are at Willesden having worked from Sizewell.
