Any ideas on entering normal passenger service yet? Without all this special service nonsense.. when will it be running for commuters?

Cheers.

It better be soon or it won't have been worth doing with a view to getting feedback.

I'd say the decision is obvious (do them all, and ASAP) and this almost seems like a delay tactic to put off the inevitable.

Arrived at Liverpool St at 13:35 (on the grottiest 315 you can think of) and saw the pristine 321 leaving as ECS. I assume this as it was displaying "Not in service". Interesting exterior decoration.

In traffic this evening paired (London end) with two other sets on the 16:53 COL-LST and 18:05 LST - SOV.

Seen working out of London on Down Electric heading towards COL at about 15:15.

Please quote the full station names. I can just make out that COL is colchester and LST is Liverpool Street but I have no idea where SOV is. If its to much trouble to type the full station name then so be it. :(

SOV is Southend Victoria.

Shame people find it TOO easy TO be rude. At least use correct grammer if you are tearing holes in other people for things.

Thank you for identifying SOV as Southend Victoria. As for the rest it would help if you could spell grammar correctly.

Trying it out on the Ingatestone school kids first then (15.58 Ingatestone to Colchester).

It'll be out today on a diagram starting from Southend, considering that's where it finished. Will look it up when I get to work, unless someone beats me to it.

Had a ride on it on the 1812 Liverpool St-Clacton as far as Stratford, I have to admit I was impressed.

Argh, I was at Liverpool Street then too but didn't see it! :/

Is there a regular-ish timetable for it, or does it work any odd diagram like the other units?

Unless control specify it to be on a particular diagram, it will be put on which ever diagram the yardy or depot driver decides to put it on.

I managed to get on the 1812 ex LST to MKT yesterday.

I'm impressed by the interior, it's certainly pleasant and makes a nice change. Heard a few people refer to it as new (they now probably think the entire fleet will be 'replaced' starting now, bless).

I had a wander down the train and inspected various aspects; all very nice.

I've uploaded my collection of photos here:
http://gallery.hc.me.uk/index.php/Class-321-Demonstrator

I do have a few moans though:
- I was in first class and, as usual with modern trains, comfort has been very much compromised. The leather seats are lovely, but there's little cushioning on them, in addition to the fact they are very upright.. You almost have to sit with your back vertical to fit with the chair design. The old first class 321 seats were reasonably reclined. The seats are also ridiculously tall, which could be good or bad. On a standard 321 I can look ahead and see what's going on. No chance on these, it's like a skyscraper in front.
- The leg room in standard is insanely bad. Even on the 2+2 carriages, you sit down on a facing seat, and your legs are touching the seat opposite basically. Photo of this in gallery, modelled by an unaware stranger.
- The temperatures seemed mismatched. Standard was all quite temperate, but first class was like a sauna.

A few niceties also:
- Power sockets on front of seats in first; yay!
- Overall nice look and feel.
- the look of confusion and fear on some passengers faces.

Anyway, that's my view; overall I'm pretty impressed with it though. Quite pleased it coincided with my commute so soon after launch.
