At least down here in GWR land, it is pretty damn common for a 158 to be busy enough that people are standing in that area for a large part of their journey. Certainly going to make me rethink where I stand anyway!

An incident almost identical to the above actually happened the other week with a pair of Northern 158s - a member of staff fell through a gangway connection when the trains had been parted

I hope they are ok and getting pro-bono legal advice.

EuroStars made it up the ECML (37 hauled) no problem.
Actually, there was a problem!
They definitely went to York while Leeds was being refurbished. They made it Newcastle on test but were found to be too long for corners and there was a risk of them sticking out too far and hitting trains on the other line.

There are gauging issues at Newcastle on the curves at the bridge as you head South out of the station. ...

...There's the issue of gauging at Newcastle due to the radius of the curve on King Edward VII bridge. There's a potential kinematic envelope issue due to the articulation...
...Their major limitation north of York on ECML was the King Edward VII bridge at Newcastle. The articulation configuration and distance between bogies meant that the 373 overthrow went out of gauge at the southern end of the bridge....

As someone who's qualified on 156, were taught that this is a possibility due to the inter-vehicle coupling being the BSI. I've seen a video on Facebook where the vehicle on the left continued onto the left with the right vehicle stationary after Train Wire 4 was broken, throwing the brakes onto the rear vehicle. But still quite concerning as we'll be getting 158's up at Newcastle soon! Looks like it was on the Up Main too which they've had a possession on some nights this week recently for ballast renewal. Coincidence?

Presumably it is because of the possibility of failure that some units were provided with fixed bar couplings? I observed one such bar-coupled unit a few days ago.

Regarding the one car moving when the other care stopped, is that this incident? If so another reason for RAIB to be involved.

Any link to the video clip?

That is a very serious incident. Was this on a depot somewhere or out on the main line?
