On a similar note free email accounts that make you jump through several hoops just to log in.
I’ve had the same Hotmail account for around 20 years and till recently I just typed in my email address and password. Now when I type in my address it doesn’t default to password, I get a choice of...
Why shouldn't passengers be allowed to pay by cash? Surely pne of the big advantages of £2 being a nice round figure is that you only need one or two coins to pay it rather than fiddling around with change if it was, say, £2.25?
Whilst cryptzoology is a fascinating subject, the case against the existence of big cats in the UK is similar to the case against UFOs, ghosts and other such phenomena. Why is it that pretty much everyone carries a camera with them at all times in their phone, yet there never been any conclusive...
I thought of your post yesterday when I ordered a pint of Landlord in the Cross Daggers in Coal Aston and am pleased to report that in my opinion it's as good quality as I remember it.
Those ridiculous caps on plastic drink bottles which have a strand of plastic to attach the top to the bottle. If you keep it on it gets in the way of you drinking and if you twist and pull it off you end up with a sharp point of plastic which, if you reuse the bottle, you'll inevitably cut your...
When Mars Inc withdrew Marathon bars and replaced them with the tasteless sugary American rubbish they call Snickers. It's not even a proper name, what exactly is a Snicker and why they did they give a plural name to a singular product?
Men's underwear. Why is it so difficult to find what we used to call "Underpants" which for some reason are now called "Briefs"? Instead the displays in most department stores seem to consist of boxer shorts, trunks and goodness knows what else but very few items which you would class as...
All information that the average passenger either knows already or doesn't need to know.
I heard the new TPE announcement on a Doncaster Sheffield 185 yesterday and I feel they've totally missed the point. Instead of having the same barrage of announcements in a different voice why didn't they...
In the Champions League maybe but in the 2023 play offs Sheffield Wednesday lost the first leg at Peterborough 4-0 but won the second leg 5-1 and went on to win on penalties!
Personally I don't want other passengers spreading out along the platform. If they're all stood at one end, I can happily board at the other end of the train and have several seats to myself!
"To the Traffic Manager.
British Rail, Southern Region.
Dear sir, Every morning my train is
11 minutes late. This is infuriating.
This morning I took a later train, this also was 11 minutes late.
This also is infuriating.
Why don't you re-time all your trains to arrive 11 minutes late, then...
We don't get temperatures of nearly 40 degrees now, not in the North West where EMR and Northern have given up the ghost again.
Even at its hottest the temperature in the North hasn't risen above the low to mid 30s all summer so there's no need for you to exaggerate.
They're quite old now but the YCCRP produced some leaflets which are still available on their website of walks from stations on the line.
https://www.yccrp.co.uk/walks
I did walk 3 from Bempton to Filey earlier this summer, it's a great walk but as the latter half is on the beach you have to...
It's an attitude thing. If you're slipshod about advertising your products with a lazy "this'll do" approach then chances are you'll have a similar slipshod attitude when making the products you intend to sell.
There's a sandwich shop near my workplace that advertises "panini's" in the shop window.
Maybe I'm a pedant but if a sandwich shop has such a lax approach to basic grammar then chances are the quality of the products they sell must similarly be poor, so I've never used them!
Here's a better idea, make announcements "opt in" rather than "opt out". Seeing as nearly everyone has a smartphone these days, there should be a free GPS app that people who want to hear announcements can download so they can listen to them on headphones while the rest of us enjoy blissful silence!
