    Godalming to Epsom

Of course you’re right. But for a relatively modest uplift I would consider the more complex ticket - I have friends and family on the Guildford-Woking-Wimbledon corridor…shame CJ is out but entirely understand

    Godalming to Epsom

Thank you - I have indeed. Journey planner does route via Dorking because of the gaps you mention. Obviously if Not Via London does permit CJ route as well as the direct (and Dorking) it also allows more intermediate journeys to be made…

    Godalming to Epsom

Hi All My office has moved and I am now looking at commuting from Godalming to Epsom on an annual. I see two fares quoted: 1) via Leatherhead only 2) not via London terminals. My questions please: For the first option, would this include via Guildford and Dorking? (I have assumed but the...

    Oasis, Knebworth ‘96

I was there on the Saturday night. I have vague memories of the train journey to Stevenage being quite ordered on the way there and utterly chaotic at the end - but we got home. How did the railway cope with these monumental gigs? It feels like it must have been a huge operation. Could it be...

A week of delay on SWR

It’s a horror story for sure, like many I’ve had a terrible May on SWR. Following on from the note above, I am quizzical as to why at least some trains are not being turned at Woking (the lines or at least some of them are bi-directional) A very significant issue across SWR is staffing -...

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

As a fellow passenger absolutely everything here is spot on. Remembering this was 4 hours we were talking about. I’d add one further aspect most people just added to the farce - the TM and driver seemingly not being in contact (there were multiple ‘if the driver can hear this message please...

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

It was a wheel axle (the thunderbird scenario seems irrelevant IIRC). About an hour in, we went about 100 yards and stopped as not ok to carry on. Various fitters came on, so did BTP (I think there were shenanigans down the train). Anyway and then we started moving (having been told 30...

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

We’ve had one water run. That was that. 1771681951 Exactly…if anyone can make sense of train movements re the evacuation, I.e when this might happen etc, your insights will be greatly appreciated

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

From the train….2.45 hours now. People have been generally very calm; obviously buffet now out of food and drink. No sign of staff - though I can see there’s nothing they can really do. I think once we get to 3 hours moods will change…

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

Thanks - forgive my ignorance but as it’s coming from South does that mean we’ll be dragged back to Doncaster or will we be pushed to York?

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

Hi We’ve broken down just outside York (Peterborough to Edinburgh train). Apparently Thunderbird is coming to rescue us. Any ideas as to where it’s coming from and how long this is likely to take?

Travelling at night from London (Victoria) to Horsham

Personally if your schedule allows I’d go for the 2305 rather then 2335 to take away any concern of last train not running. The train itself will be fairly busy with a mixed crowd as mentioned; you’ll be extremely unlucky to encounter any problems on this one, hope the journey goes well

    SWR Evening Out ticket validity

Good evening, I encountered no issues with this today but am wondering if I would have if I’d encountered a revenue officer…. Bought an evening out return ticket from Milford to Guildford, from Godalming (I started short as I got a lift part way on way in but wanted to go back whole way to...

Emergency engineering at Clandon 21 Dec onwards

Is there a reason why the trains are not running to Clandon, given that they terminate there when there’s engineering works at Guildford, and this work is after Clandon (as you travel towards Guildford)? Far better bus wise…

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Hi all, quick question - thinking about upgrading our standard ticket for today’s 1630, which we are taking to Newark. What does the first class offer look like in terms of food and drink for that part of that train please? Cheers

    Journey involving two TOCs

good evening On Sunday I need to make a journey from Witley, Surrey to Newark. I’m doing part of the journey with someone else who has a railcard, it’s marginally cheaper for me to pay separately for the Witley to Waterloo segment and then KX to Newark (when I’ll be alone). My question is -...
