I used the down platform this century. Once. Between 2001 and 2009 (the years I commuted from NM). Apologies not to be more precise, it was a long time ago...
Hi I’ve not done this before…booked on Avanti website (via a log in account on their website) for TFW journey which was subsequently >60 mins late. Do I claim for DR through Avanti or TFW? Thanks
I agree with the sentiments suggesting this is a made up story really. I use the EL 3/4 times a week and have had one delayed journey, and have saved hours (already) off my journey.
I feel that this will have been covered at some stage, so apologies in advance. Will the dwell times be reduced...
Good afternoon...last Saturday and now I see this Saturday, Guildford - Waterloo via Cobham services have been reduced from 2 to 1 an hour. Can anyone advise why and how many weeks this will go on for. Nothing on SWR publicity or at the stations on this...many thanks
On a slightly related note to this, auto announcements at Waterloo tonight still talking about the Petersfield etc engineering works - now cancelled. Given these announcements are on loop, has not one SWR management member there not suggested changing this? It really goes on and on in terms of...
I think many of us SWR users have got to the stage of wondering just what is wrong with the organisation. For clarity - and in fairness - those trying operationally to schedule and run the trains today are not at fault - and most fair minded people would say that. But the wider organisation...
Out of interest, what was the rationale for no Guildford-Waterloo services running via Cobham and twice an hour in the reduced service days via Epsom? Was trying to work out why this was in terms of signalling etc?
It does still happen owing to delays. Depending on how quickly the train needs to be turned, sometimes gets put into the siding, or sometimes shunted on the running line. Obviously the former is less disruptive, but by definition it's usually a rush job so I see the latter approach being used...
Quite an exaggerated example this morning. Guildford to Havant non-stop, missing out everywhere. Unfortunately not only was a stop at Godalming on the info screens at Guildford, it was announced and not contradicted by the guard during the Guildford stop (he did apologise). Just the 90...
I noticed our OP mentioned the Waterloo failure. Surely we can learn from that? I remember it well, though it felt like a bad dream until I saw this thread.
On a more practical level I’m trying to work out whether I’ve been charged correctly for a journey I do regularly…Gallions Reach to CH via DLR and then Elizabeth line to Farringdon and finally circle to Kings Cross. What should that be (before and after 9.30) on Oyster? Many thanks
I think the signs are the station staff's attempt to help, and that they should be applauded for at least trying. The fact that, as you say, interchange from EL to DLR isn't possible via the most direct route is just wrong. Ultimately there was years to sort this and we have an extremely...
Is this actually going to ever get sorted out? Given how long there was to prep for opening, it's a very frustrating situation at CH (in particular having to walk around the whole station to get from EL to DLR) rather than the obvious gateline. To partially answer the question, there is at...
