Just noticed two signals on signal maps for which their purpose needs to be explained. The first is at St Austall and numbered CL5855 and is on the up side of the line but is intended for down trains and has no other signal in rear of it. The second is CL5790 near black queen tunnel and is on...
The platform surface is some form of concrete slab about the same size as the polystyrene blocks each one is craned into place I saw this being done at Hertford earlier this week they come prepainted with white edges as well.
Visited both sites today. At Hertford all new track and pointwork is in place as is most of the ballast. The up platform (2 ) is nearly complete .A small section of the down platform ( 1 ) has been started see photo can anybody tell me what the various parts of the platforms are made of ...
During August work will get underway on replacing the road over bridge at Broxbourne station. But only two spans are being renewed so I understand the third over the mill stream is to stay for now . As this is just as old as the others it will need to be renewed in the near future . Perhaps...
Lots going on at Hertford East this week line closed until next Tuesday so they must be renewing track I will try and get down there and take some photo's.
They have got to renew the track and relocate the trailing crossover first before they start work on the platforms at Hertford East I was told this Easter has anyone heard anything ?
I have seen a signalling plan for 1950 which shows that the down loop and signal box could be switched out and down trains using the up platform if need be thus the signal box could change to a gate cabin ie non block post. As the line was already at that time worked by acceptance switches ( no...
There is another measurement nobody has mentioned that is the decimal imperial. Britain started to look into this some time back when everybody else was converting to metric. I have a metre long steel rule with all three measurements shown on it. If you have never heard of this well I can tell...
Work started yesterday . I went there today and work is well under way. I got talking to the workmen It seems I was wrong about the way it will be dismantled in fact there will be no cranes because it will be dismantled bit by bit each part will be colour coded and numbered including the lever...
It will be interesting to see how they do this . Access to the site is a bit restricted there are trees and undergrowth behind the box that my need to be cleared first so that a lorry mounted crane can get near enough to lift the lever frame out along with the heavy timbers on to a flat back...
Yes you are right. So there might be only three BBC versions. Not sure but there might also be a Australian film version as well . Also I have found the one you just mentioned on Ebay new for less then a fiver !
It seems the first one is now lost for good including the remake a short while later. As for the second version made in 1957 it fails to mention if it survives in the BBC archives it would be nice if it did although I doubt it a lot of black and white stuff was trashed in the late sixties and...
