    High Speed 2

I'm not too bothered whether it can run at 200mph because the train will have to stop in London anyway, it would really depend on whether the NLL is connected to HS2, which I can't find evidence in favour of.

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

I was merely pointing out in a flippant way that the ideal of an unrestricted view is just that, that a view will always be restricted in some way so long as your sitting inside the train

    High Speed 2

So far as I can see with the Labour plans they were planning to build a new high speed railway which would start a few meters away from the existing one and stop just before the classic network, thereby disabling most of the advantages that it would have. How could a right thinking person every...

    High Speed 2

What would be sensible would be to intergrate Moor street, New street and Curzon street into a Central station, but I can't imagine them finding the money for it.

    Tunnel I should imagine

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

Well i'm terribly sorry if it causes a problem for you, but most trains companies have adopted the opinion that its safer and more comfortable for passengers to sit inside the train. All views are going to be therefore restricted in some way.

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

No they are not, but they are prone to having that happen to them, the crash rate however for any intercity train is low, not to mention that having a more rigid body structure reduces the chance of the train derailing in any case. At the end of the day, theres only a few seats that have no...

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

We thankfully never crashed an APT so we never knew what it would do in a crash, but any kind of pendo is more prone to a severe accident because it takes corners much faster, and therefore its wheels must generate a greater centri-petal force to stay on the track. Moreover you can see this...

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

Its just when they are moving off, they aren't a problem when stopped.

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

From the outside the noise from a MU is certainly preferable to the deafening roar from a HST

    Class 150 after London Midland

I should hope they scrap the Pacers before the 150's

    Stansted Express question

Ah okay I see, he'd be probably best buying the ticket from Tottenham hail then, that or traveling North on a slow train which stops at Enfield Lock and changing at Harlow North

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

I can't honestly see what you have against the Meridians, I have only traveled on one, and it was busy, but it was also nice. The seats were comfortable and properly sized as well. The only think which could have been better was the speed it traveled at.

    Stansted Express question

Well, they could have travelled south to Tottenham Hale then boarded there.

    Journey From Hell?

Well yeah, its not designed for people wanting to take a route as long as that, its designed for people wanting to travel from the North East or the East Midlands to the South West and Cornwall, which it does well

East Midlands Trains, their C158s are excellent, but their Meridians absolute c**p ?

I don't think thats the case at all, I would rather travel on MK4 coach on a 225 than an original Mark 3 coach on a 125. Moreover the new stock has delivered faster accelaration and higher top speeds which have lead to more people using the network. On the ECML northern section I don't...

    Journey From Hell?

Well some open access might as well indeed, XC however provide a useful route because they do under cut traveling via London in terms of time for most journeys
  18. H

    Open Access Operators

It does yeah, it leaves the ECML just north of Peterborough whereas the EM service continues to Grantham

    Journey From Hell?

They are nice the 158's, but I'm not sure it will be for 6 hours, why didn't you travel via London?
  20. H

    Open Access Operators

Some of them are a bit dim tbh, for example that one that was going to go from Lincoln to London via Cambridge and therefore take twice as long as changing at Newark would. You've also got Bradford trains which take advantage of a gap in the market providing a slower service from Bradford to...
