Most ticket machines being removed from Luton Airport Parkway

I mean the round things that have a scanner yellow? On them to swipe your contactless card.

Most ticket machines being removed from Luton Airport Parkway

If you pay contactless at one of those little robots, and you get stopped on the train by the ticket people , how do they know you have paid?

Most ticket machines being removed from Luton Airport Parkway

Baldock has sticker on one as well( of two) . Annoying as they face the sun and it's a struggle to get the touchscreen to work properly sometimes leading to queues in the am peak.

Introduction of European Entry-Exit Scheme (EES)

This whole thing does worry me, the delays ,the crowds ( I'm disabled). Yes I know I can get assistance if required to bypass most of it, but it still worries me to the point of not travelling ( which maybe is the point?).

Thameslink core broken - 13th July 26 - what could be done to improve things?

I get a Thameslink from London Bridge to Baldock in the evening peak, it is full leaving City Thameslink and standing only until Hitchin when it empties. I for one would not use the train if I had to train- tube-train rather than change trains at London Bridge.

Trident: Should a PM scrap it (and some other defence issues)?

We could "share" deterrence with the French, if our subs are getting a little old always ensuring there is either a French or SsBN sub on patrol at all times ( sometimes both) - didn't they talk about this at some point in the past. To prevent gaps in coverage?

Trivia: Railway stations primarily accessed through shopping centres

Welwyn Garden City? Though the Howard centre?

Thameslink core broken - 13th July 26 - what could be done to improve things?

Letchworth was designed as 4 platforms although they never completed the 4 tracks. Today you would have to move the lifts ( which are built in the way, but other than that it should " just" be moving earth.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

Agreed but we were using it as a warship as we didn't have anything else!

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

I don't think we are up to much anyway, we had to send a tanker, a tanker to help the US board that Russian tanker as we no longer have destroyers and frigates available in sufficient numbers should they need maintainence or leave for heavens sake.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

What ever it is , the optics look bad and are being spun to each narrative you believe in. Post truth indeed.

Avanti take needless announcements to a new level

We, over a number of years, have created a risk adverse culture, which pervades everything. Railways seem to be at the sharp end of it unfortunately. Ambulance chasing lawyers have a lot to do with it and the rear end covering of everything to prevent being sued.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

The shooting of the white women (no less) by ICE kinda freaked me out. Truly truly the wild west. What has that country descended into?

LNER should not stop at Stevenage and should consider calling at Finsbury Park instead

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/lner-stevenage-pickup-setdown.295606 Why does LNER stop at Stevenage anyway? I don't see that many people heading north from there. Cut the stop out and if you want to join an LNER service, get a GN or Thameslink in to Kings...

Regular Thameslink disruption: what could be done to improve performance and resilience?

Everything funnels through two tracks, St Pancras to Blackfriars, and south of the river is worse for disruption than North most days. These are my two main issues.

    LNER Stevenage Pickup/Setdown

On the evening peaks ( depart St P at about 18:00 ) coaches are full to standing leaving St P, few get on and off Finsbury Park. About 20% get off at Stevenage ( still standing remain) and the train empties almost totally at Hitchin ( leaving about 5-6 people per coach. How this helps the...

Tavistock - Bere Alston Feasibility Study in jeopardy. But what could be done if the money was available?

Surely no railway in the country even breaks even? They are all " Shored up" by taxpayers as the fare box doesn't even begin to cover it. Perhaps we need another Beeching ( or Serpell?) to try and balance the books?

Tavistock - Bere Alston Feasibility Study in jeopardy. But what could be done if the money was available?

I would like it to happen, but I am amused by the quite vociferous negative sentiments expressed by some on this ( was is supposed to be a prorail forum!) forum.
