When the safety valve on a steam loco lifts & it blows off that is a particularly loud noise. Very high pitched & I have on occasion had a small amount of ringing in my ears afterwards. The loudest thing I've heard modern traction wise is a 91 & 92s with their fans going full tilt don't half...
