    Delay repay is it destructive?

Thameslink peak time train ticket from Flitwick to London is £47.70. 12.5% of that is £5.96 which is rounded up to £6 for Delay Repay payouts for a 15 minutes delay on one leg. Our school and nursery charge more than that per 10 minutes of lateness at pickup. So definitely not inconsequential...

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

Not sure what's going on with their website. Yellow "travel updates (1)" box at the top of every page which says about the cancellations when you click on it - but directly underneath this is a green box which says "live service update - good service reported". Most people would see this green...

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

Aren't the stop board locations mainly set to ensure the driver has a clear view of (a) the doors and/or the dispatcher (which in turns determines the position of the dispatcher do they can see all the doors); and (b) the track and signal ahead of them? I get the arguments that the railway...

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

Footbridges at Bedford, Flitwick, Harlington*, Leagrave*, Luton, Harpenden, St Albans (which now has two, both middle-ish), West Hampstead, and St Pancras are all in the middle of the platform. It's only Luton Airport Parkway - which was originally built with the footbridge at the south ends of...

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

One long-term solution might be to spread footbridge entrances out along the whole length of the route so that even if people continue to bunch up on the platform, they are better spread out on the train itself. Eg from Bedford to London, most of the platform entry points are in the middle of...

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

Exactly this. Also on a two-platform station, or at least ones where you can guarantee your train will definitely arrive on that platform, it's fine to spread out. The amount of times I've been given 20 seconds' notice of a platform alteration at various stations, especially West Hampstead...

TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

I have zero inside knowledge but I wouldn't put it past DfT/a TOC to try it... it works for the low cost airlines...

TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

If there is a seat selector - possibly with higher charges for "better" seats a la low cost airlines - then sure they will. And of course a forward facing seat at a table next to the window would be more valuable than an aisle seat facing backwards without a table.

SWR - Expired Railcard - TIR issued

Does your £2k calculation use the full undiscounted Anytime fare for the full journey, multiplied by two for a return, without any discount for the fares you have already paid?

Saturdays and Sundays should be inside the working week for drivers at all TOCs (not just some as at present)

is the OP's proposal to reduce the number of trains during the week, or increase the TOC staffing level by maybe 25% and run the same timetable 7 days a week?

    Tickets for dogs

I can't find a decent source for it beyond various blogs and Reddit, but sounds a bit like the TGV snail incident!

TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

And if I paid for seat B34 because it's a table seat facing forwards, and the train arrives in reverse formation so I'm sitting backwards? The seat exists, I sat in it, but it wasn't what I paid (potentially a higher price) for?

TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

So I guess they are also going to guarantee no shortforming, no set swaps, no trains in reverse formation, and no cancellations going forwards?

As she won't have tapped in anywhere, then she won't hold a valid ticket between the zone 6 boundary and Kings Cross.

SWR investigation: Wrong Railcard used and was caught

Wouldn't you need to (roughly) double it again at the end to account for single journeys being charged in a settlement vs return fares being purchased and calculated in your first step? the first double is to account for the 50% discount on return fares afforded by the Railcard - the second...

    Prefix PF appeal services help

Do tickets purchased with a 16-25 Railcard have to be linked to a specific Railcard, ie entering the Railcard number? As far as I know this is not the case - so I am very confused what the TOC (and Appeals Service) think is incorrect in this case?
