If you pick that Duo, it will change the trains to the "1 change" itinerary with EMR + Northern, changing at Sheffield, because reservations cannot be made on the direct Northern service. You'll see the trains being used for the ticket before paying at checkout.

Anyone remember when Northern changed the booking cut-off for Advances because their ticket office staff whined about apps showing cheap prices close to departure...

It's entirely irrelevant.

I would certainly argue for the use of Hanlon's razor in this case, yes.

Not yet, but Northern haven't set up first class ticket types for their trains, so anyone wanting to buy a First Class flexible ticket with Northern as a connecting TOC now can't buy the ticket. They have also forgotten about the existence of their own Duo tickets, which are not set up in the...

Even better -- it scuppers their data collection entirely!

It's clearly not. Please contact customer support by email, including your booking reference, and we'll refund this.

Well, OP wanted route via Kensington Olympia, so I was trying to give them that!

Not sure when the outbound is (I've just put it as the same day) but this search seems to do the trick...

What date and time?

There is no difference for a customer turning up at a station and seeing their booked train (defined by its station+scheduled departure time) no longer exists.

They'd be entitled to use GWR anyway under the DfT cross-acceptance policy, which includes planned cancellations.
