    South Wales Metro - Future

Doesn’t that need a new loop north of Tondu?

TFW introduces Pay As You Go in South East Wales

Interesting, I'm fully expecting it to be updated to whatever the fares should be, however if it isn't it's a nice bonus. The obvious route is Llantwit Major to Bridged, then Bridgend to Tondu, so not sure why its let me go via Cardiff and a break of Journey. The trains I caught were from...

TFW introduces Pay As You Go in South East Wales

It wasn’t too bad - sounded like the idiots all boarded and stayed in the rear coach of three. Until Bridgend I had the front compartment of coach 1 to myself

TFW introduces Pay As You Go in South East Wales

I think it’s got confused by my journeys yesterday, I did llantwit major to Cardiff around 4pm, then Cardiff to Tondu around 11pm. It seems to have given me a break of journey in Cardiff, and only charged me a single from llantwit major to Tondu

    South Wales Metro - Future

The extension to a velindre site would be easy enough, however to get to the radyr line would require a very sharp turn between this point https://maps.app.goo.gl/FQiJKhSm6rAjDEPg8?g_st=ipc and the m4, a significant drop in height along longwood drive, a river crossing and then a junction into...

End journey short at Haymarket with advance single to Waverley

Travelled up to Edinburgh in march with advance tickets to Waverley, got off at haymarket no issues with the barriers no staff in sight. Again no issues for the return journey

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Think the best place for a loop would be between Rhiwbina and birchgrove

    South Wales Metro - Future

https://maps.app.goo.gl/XSimYPphozgr2oCy8?g_st=ic The Cardiff railway alignment is at this level, the core valley lines between radyr and taffs well is at the bottom of the hill, with the obvious route blocked by the m4

Last stations to have a passenger loco to run around it's train

    There was a loco hauled service to Fishguard harbour early 2000s - class 37 + 4 mk2

Bustitution on Cambrian to accommodate private charter

What is the limit on paths on the Cambrian? Is it the long stretch between Shrewsbury and Welshpool or something else? The loops seem to be fairly regular after Welshpool

    Pacer route list

Pretty sure I’ve seen one as far west as Fishguard- must’ve been an interesting ride for the punters

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

    Wasn’t the Merthyr station relocated?

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Where’s the discrimination? The fact that you have to look at the Welsh versions first before the English version?

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Presumably any freight will run late night / early morning

What improvements should be made to the Coryton line?

The trackbed is still there up to the rear of McDonald’s - from there there is the small matter of a drop in height of around 100 feet, the m4 motorway directly ahead and the river taff to cross before joining the line to radyr - the best place to join would be around the gelynis farm crossing

Is the use of cash dying out?

I run a rugby club, since covid over 90% of bar take has been card/contactless

Largest station at end of a solo single line

I believe that when Fishguard harbour first opened in 1906 there were 5 platform faces - however 2 of these served the same track. There were also multiple sidings

    Unusual Diversions.

My best is Leeds to Cardiff - around 2005/6. Leeds to Birmingham new steeet via Doncaster, Loughborough, Leicester and Nuneaton, followed by a Birmingham to Cardiff service via Worcester

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Presumably if it’s a loop from dingle road to penarth it will allow the frequency to be enhanced as currently only one train can go onto the branch at a time.
