I think this is the most annoying thing about it so far. The 'S' stop for all trains is at the very far end of P1 and with the majority (if not all) of the HS services being 6-car, it ends up with only the last 1.5-2 cars stopping by the stairs and shelter. It would make much more sense to have...
Top marks to all the engineering teams and contractors involved in the work during the blockade! I'm surprised that it was back open again considering the bad weather we've been experiencing recently but they seem to have managed to complete all the major work. Unfortunately...its the detail...
This give a good overview of the work taking place and timescales - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wrf1exBS1Q
I had a quick look at the station yesterday and while things are coming along, compared to the video it looks like they're maybe a day behind. The new bridge steps for the new...
Does anyone have any more info on the incident which closed HS1 around 17:00-18:00 yesterday evening? Apparently the 16:58 St Pancras Intl to Faversham hit some sort of metal debris near Ebbsfleet. Caused chaos at St Pancras in the evening rush.
Hard to say but its definitely not a crawl - more like 30/40 mph if its all clear through to Gravesend or down onto HS1. In 2.5+ years I've never seen anything in the HS1 sidings in the quarry. I was half expecting to see some 395s stabled there in recent weeks as part of the Javelin services...
Springhead junction, very close to Ebbsfleet. The Maidstone West high speed services which don't call at Ebbsfleet change from overhead to 3rd rail at speed while passing through Ebbsfleet high level platforms.
Its all bi-directional with plenty of cross-overs. A couple of times when there's been a power problem or a failed train, I've been through the 'wrong' tunnel heading from Stratford Intl to St Pancras.
Unfortunately I think any complaints about the Olympic timetables are likely to fall on...
I'm sure the 395s are pressurised for running in the Thames and London tunnels - you can sometimes see the windows flex when leaving the London tunnels at Dagenham heading coast bound.
The most annoying thing is the numpties with no patience trying to open the doors - furiously tapping the open...
Strood still has the same number stopping as the HS services from Faversham (and peak from Broadstairs) which miss it are replaced by the peak HS service to/from Maidstone West.
Seems like most of the people that do the complaining about the services are the ones that want to be travelling to...
On Friday afternoon, I was on the 14:25 St Pancras to Faversham which was a 12 car rather than the usual 6. I usually travel in the peaks so I'm unsure if that's normal for that particular service. Making use of the SDO for Gravesend, Strood and Rochester anyway.
Have SE have suddenly decided...
Made a nice change for an 'extra' train to stop at Gravesend especially a 12-car 395 at that! Guessing previous ones had already been cancelled/delayed - still ended up 30 mins late to St Pancras though.
Care to provide any figures for the 'under performing' NKL? I've commuted from Gravesend via HS1 since Dec '09 and the peak services have steadily got busier and busier.
So not only are SE able to increase fares above RPI and also charge a high-speed 'tax' but they end up with more subsidy...
