I used the H1 First Portsmouth service last week. I tapped on at the City Shops South bus stop and attempted to tap off at the Hovertravel stop. The tap off machine didn’t register so the driver asked me to tap off on his ticket machine. This second tap was only 8 minutes after the first and on...
I am an occasional user of SWR services and noted a class 701 train at Guildford on Saturday while waiting for my Portsmouth train. The vehicle numbers were 480022 etc with the fourth digit changing along the train, for example 484022. Are the first five units numbered differently to avoid a...
Is anyone else having problems with the railcard website. My 3 year Senior Railcard expires on 6th February but the ststem won't let me renew as it thinks that I have more than 30 days left before expirty. I've sent a message through "contact us" but they only promise a 10 day response.
Maybe it's just me but why is the toilet paper on trains so difficult to pull out in single sheets?
There is often a wedge of torn shreads adjacent to the dispenser.
Do they get overfilled by the preparation staff or is it just purchasing going for the cheapest but spending more due to...

Given that GWR has purchased the unconverted stock of D78s, maybe the best thing for SWR to do would be to get 20-30 sets of original equipment from GWR and return them to as built D78 LT...
My American brother is coming to the UK soon for a holiday. Could anyone advise how I can get a senior railcard for him, or if he can buy one here? The various websites seem to insist on UK or EEA supporting documents being presented.
Thanks

I would appreciate some advice.
I had the misfortune to be a passenger on the 1748 Gravesend to Charing Cross train on 28th June when it struck and killed someone at Erith.
I was stuck on the train for over an hour and a half while ambulance, police, fire, network rail and southeastern...
Yesterday I travelled from St Pancras to Rainham by Southeastern. Due to engineering works the hourly morning train service was running to a special timetable with departures at xx55 rather than the xx25 in the normal timetable. As a result I wasted 30 minutes at St Pancras and arrived at...
According to the local paper Island Line are closing from Ryde St John's Road to Shanklin for no less than 10 weeks starting next month!

The pointwork is in and the platform construction is well under way. I'm not sure about signalling.
I haven't seen any plans for using this expensive facility. Are the Charing Cross trains to be extended from Gillingham or is there some other plan?
Watched an Indian film today - Jab Tak Hain Jaan.
It was nice to see Charing Cross Jubilee Line station in use in the film. The station looked to be in good order, though with few advertisements. The scenes included a Jubilee Line train announcing itself as being for Stanmore.
I believe...
I am planning a day return journey from Fratton to Portsmouth Harbour on Friday afternoon. I understand that the ticket is likely to be issued to "Portsmouth Stations". Does this allow break of journey on the outward half at Portsmouth and Southsea. I will be using an off peak day return...
For convenience on my return from trips abroad I often buy tickets to and from Heathrow Underground (starting from Rainham Kent) in advance over the internet and collect them from the machine at Rainham on my way to the airport. If I buy these as two singles - for example one peak and the other...
So many people report problems on this forum that I would like to make a positive comment about the internet ticket purchase system.
Yesterday I travelled from Colchester to Sheringham using NXEA advance purchase single tickets in each direction. I purchased them over the internet from South...
I am trying to buy an off peak one day travel card from the South West trains website for tomorrow.
I have put several combinations in such as Richmond to Waterloo, Victoria to Bromley South (or the other way round) and South Hampstead to East Croydon. It offers me the off peak version at...
Would a Faversham - Ashford "Off Peak Day Return" routed via Ebbsfleet International be valid for starting and finishing the return journey at Gillingham instead of Faversham? For some reason it is several pounds cheaper.
