I hope to travel from Cambridge to York and see there are a few train options.
One, that looks OK has only 6 minutes to change at ELY (see image)
Is this enough time .. for two seniors
I was at Monkseaton station this afternoon, shortly after 13:00 and two trains passed, one iin each direction which were 'Not in Service'
Then at about 14:30 I was at Palmersville and again two 'Not in Service' trains passed while I was at the station
Seems a lot more than normal
My wife and I are travelling south from Newcastle on 22 November via York, but I see tickets are not available yet. (14 weeks and 2 days ahead)
To get an idea of prices and route options I decided to look for 3 weeks earlier (1st November)
See image .. something isn't right, with 20+ hour...
My wife and I got Glasgow Subway smart cards a few years ago, when we first travelled to Glasgow.. and hopefully we'll find them again as we are returning to Glasgow soon.
We'll probably only need 2 'day tickets' each plus a single ticket for the day we leave.
The fares will be (£3.40 x 2) +...
As per the title
A few years ago, after hearing about the ticket on this forum, my wife and I bought paper copies of the ticket, rather than having to pay an extra £1 for a card type ticket
Are these still available please ?
Which station on the Tyne & Wear Metro system seems the most run-down.
My vote goes to Northumberland Park, which is actually one of the newest stations on the network.
Look at a few pictures I took today
AND .. I think the multi-story car park is still not fully operational again
My wife and I will be travelling from Norwich to Cambridge in a couple of months and I am wondering which route would be best (best = getting a seat for two seniors)
Travel day : Tuesday
Travel time : late morning
Options seem to be
(NRW) 10:52 > 11:42 (ELY) 11:51 > 12:11 (CBG) : EMR (2nd)...
My wife and I intend booking a trip shortly, from Cambridge to York so I have been looking at options on the Forum's ticket site.
One option, via Stevenage, would work out at £39.10 which isn't too bad at all.
Another option is also via Stevenage, but then a train up to Newcastle before...
My wife and i shall be visiting Liverpool soon, a city we have been to a few times.
During previous visits, we have had day trips to Chester and Llandudno, which were both great.
I am looking for somewhere new to visit .. either for a day or even just a few hours. We'll be using public...
My wife and I shall be travelling from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen's Street soon, a trip we have done a few times before.
We usually take the faster route, via Linlithgow and Polmont, but I see there is a slower service (about 30 minutes more) which goes via Uphall, Bathgate and Airdrie.
Which...
My wife and I shall be travelling to Glasgow on Sunday 27th September from Newcastle and would normally travel there via Edinburgh on LNER and Scotrail.
I read somewhere that LNER has routine maintenance every year (in September) on the ECML, so trains go via Carlisle. What date is this please...
What would the single fare be for a ticket from Lincoln to Sheffield bought on the day of travel please ?
My wife and I will be taking this journey next month and see the direct train would be £8.30 for the two of us. £4.15 each seems a great price.
Buying on the day would give us extra...
Is it possible to book tickets based on my own requirements (train times) and combine these into a single through ticket ?
My wife and I like to relax in the LNER lounge before we leave , hence the request
Example ( see images)
NCL to YRK 09:27 - 10:28
YRK to LIV 11:04 - 13:28
Is there anything going on, perhaps with engineering works on August 2nd (Sunday)
My wife and I are thinking about going to Liverpool, but there are no direct journeys .. usually TPE offer this service.
What would be the best option, leaving Newcastle mid-morning (say 09:30 - 11:00) and...
Living in Tyne & Wear, I have a Nexus Gold card linked to my concessionary bus pass, meaning I can travel for free between Newcastle and Sunderland on the Metro as well as the Northern Rail service on the same route
Travelling with a child (my 9 year old granddaughter) is also free.
Even the...
I am considering booking a few days in Belfast but see the hotel at Bangor is much cheaper.
As a child, I visited Bangor, Holywood & Belfast at least twice a year with my parents, as that was where we originally came from, so I know it isn't too far from Belfast. It's quite a nice ride too
It...
Will there be any disruptions (planned) for this journey please ?
For that date, tickets are available on the forum's site, although still at a high price, but for several previous Sundays, bus replacements are running.
How can I find out about any planned maintenance .. that will save me...
I booked a trip for my granddaughter and myself using a family & friends railcard.
Now a friend wants to go too .. can I book this new ticket and get the F&F railcard discount ?
I know the railcard is for up to 4 adults and 4 children, but is this only valid when all tickets are purchased together
I was looking at the Caledonian Sleeper service and note there are drop-off and pickup points on this service.
I know there are other routes where this takes place
What is the reason for this ?
Surely, if it was a time thing, then just whizzing through the station without a stop would be the...
