Does anyone know of a way to get through to XC on delay repay? They’ve twice rejected a (valid but admittedly slightly complicated) claim and I‘d like to provide written details to help it go through, but it appears impossible - even the appeal only allows a repeat submission of the same...
Apologies if I missed another thread, but why have GWR put fares up this week? At least for ODTs... was there an annnouncement? Aren’t increases supposed to be in March now? Or is this more TfL shenanigans?
I’ve been playing with the routeing guide and think I’ve got my answer, but would love if someone could corroborate my interpretation...
I think a Slough-Rye SVR is valid for a circular route, out via Ashford (HS1) and back via Lewes... is that right?
And if so, how does ‘break of journey’...
Apologies if this should have been in the Covid section - I couldn’t work out where is best but mods feel free to move if appropriate.
The Stena website currently says that sailrail tickets are not currently available on any route (and suggests that existing ones will not be accepted) due to...
Is a BZ ticket to Oxford valid on both the FGW route via Slough and the SWT route via Staines? Any idea how good SWT guards at selling them if boarding at an unstaffed station (meaning, will they do it nicely or throw a hissy fit and refuse like some other companies')?
If I have a SVR Liverpool-Gatwick Airport (£77.30), am I allowed to use FCC to St Pancras and walk to Euston rather than faff around with the tube on the way back?
If I buy a single zone ticket (£3.30) but later decide I want to travel further, can I buy an excess to the all zones ticket?
For the avoidance of doubt I would do this at a ticket office in the original zone, so as to avoid any prospect of a 'discussion' with the horribly nasty RPIs working...
If a train normally follows a certain route but is diverted because of engineering works, are 'Route X' tickets that would normally be valid still valid even if the train no longer passes through the required station?
An example would be a ticket from Liverpool marked 'Route Crewe', when the...
Does anyone know whether VT has changed its rules about accepting London International (off-peak) tickets at peak times? When I've done it before they've been valid at all times but their booking engine doesn't seem to want to allow a departure before 9am. Is that a mistake or have they become...
Does anyone know anything about a fire in the Merseyrail tunnel just north of James Street yesterday morning? Guards were apparently announcing short journeys and flames could be seen in the tunnel, but it surprises me as everything was running normally by about 10am. Strange that the press...
It's been documented before that penalty fares have been cancelled on a technicality, i.e. if the 'authorised collector' makes a mistake or doesn't fill it out correctly.
BUT... how strictly is this applied? For example, there is a box to be ticked to say whether the passenger was in 1st or...
Heading south on the WCML, just before you get to Hartford there's a branch goes off to the left. Presumably it links with the Chester-Altrincham line somewhere west of Greenbank. And it always gets me thinking...
1. Is it ever used?
2. Why is it electrified, when the Altrincham line isn't?
3...
Spending far too long on LM 350s at the weekend, I couldn't help but notice that every single emergency window hammer had been removed. Does anyone know why? And, more importantly, how we're now supposed to get out in an emergency?
Does this still exist? There's still a timetable on the VT website but it's over a year old and I can't find much else about it which makes me suspicious...
Anyway, assuming it is still a goer, how do I go about buying a ticket on it? I only need it one-way - from the airport. A through ticket...
The official minimum connection time for Birmingham Moor St is 5 minutes, and for New St 12 minutes. What's the official minimum for transferring (i.e. walking) between the two?
(Note I said 'minimum', not 'recommended', as it could be important for guaranteeing a connection.)
Here's a puzzle for you, based on something that nearly happened the other day...
Say I have an off-peak return Liverpool/Manchester to London at the standard price of £66ish (bought for me by someone who didn't know I had a railcard). If I then decide I want to travel on a peak time train...
Obviously this is directed at those in the know about Mersey local services, so apologies first to all outsiders!
Fed up with paying every day I've recently purchased a 'Railpass' from Merseyrail, and have two questions I hope someone will be able to answer.
1. Can they go through the...
